I’m sure there are examples like that. Someone should do some digging and find out.

Maximum legal blade length in Germany is 8.5 cm. I'm not sure when that restriction was added but when I first visited Germany in 1986, I did not see any switchblades with blades longer than that.

There were blade length restrictions as far back as the 1970s in Germany.
I know this because I bought stilettos from there pre-1975.

I agree. I still have an Othello-marked stiletto I bought there in 1986. It has the handle for a nine-inch stiletto with a blade that normally is on an 8-inch. OTF knives were for sale in Germany at that time and also in 1991 when I visited. Those were banned in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, the ban applies to gravity knives, too.

I have several catalogs from German companies in the 1970s (1973, 1974 and 1975 at least) which still show full length blades. Could have been around 1975-1980.

I’ll do some digging.

Here is a Stag swing-guard with a slightly shorter blade for the German market - marked Rostfrei. Added a full length 8" swinger for comparison and it is marked INOXID. The blade on the Rostfrie is 3.25", and the INOXID blade is 3.50". Both are very nice quality. I always thought these were from the 1960's.

Lovely 13 inch transitional mate .

Still confused with these number marks like the "1 "on yous and various numbers on other knives I have seen but I do know they are always beautifully built and ar high quality knives .

I have 2 knives so marked, a Rostfrei import ,and I have another marked C.Jul . Herbertz import "2 "
