Old Forster Rostfei Switchblade - Info Appreciated

Postby rwilder » Thu Dec 07, 2017 8:03 pm

Like many folks, I uncovered some interesting items when I was cleaning out my grandmother's house. I have, what seems to be, an old switchblade. The tang is marked "Forster Rostrfei" and is in amazing condition. Works great and has never been sharpened, but is sharp. Can anyone tell me anything about its origins, age and even potential value? Much appreciated.

Looks Italian possibly made by GOM. I can’t remember his first name Giudo, Giovanni ? Octavio Massaro.
By the way it’s a way cool old knife.

I agree with John.
Approx age 1980s
Made by Massaro
An Italian leverlock with German Horster stamp .I have a Robert Klass marked one and I am sure there are other German makers put on these knives.

Handle is faux stag (plastic) and they usually fire very nicely and lock up tight.
A real good find ,I love my 2 examples .

I paid 20 euros for a smaller 7" example and 30 euros for a larger 8"knife about 2 years ago on ebay but it could and should be worth more imho .
Couple of old pictures of both knives sorry about quality.
Hope this helps some
Good to meet you rwilder

It's a pretty cool knife. I had one with a KC stamp over Rostfrei (which I think I see on yours but it's a little hard to tell). If you are looking to sell that one, your best bet is Ebay as you will get the highest return there. Lever knives like yours usually don't get removed and lots of people want them. The rule of thumb with Ebay autos is the lower you start the bids the higher the final selling price will be. Basically, start at $1.
