Thanks a lot for mentioning the unpleasant looking text on the blade! Now that's all I'm going to think about when the knife arrives!
"Beautiful knife but look at those dumb-ass letters and numbers."

The Falcon
hey do any of you know what the best method of removing text like that is?

I have had moderate to complete success removing unwanted blade etching w/ elbow grease and simichrome... depends on the quality of the etching I think.
Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

Mr. Falcon, I was told it was because Emerson was filling goverment orders first. It seems that a lot of our boys and girls in Iraq are carring them.

Mr. Bigg, if Mr. Blades technique doesn't work you can always completely refinish the blade with 3M Wet or Dry sandpaper.

I used 220 grit then 600 grit and finaly 1500 grit paper to put a chrome like finish on the latch of my Typhoon project. Always sand the blade in one direction.

If it was acid etched or laser etched metal has been removed. You have to lower the remaining metal to the same level. However some etches are very shallow and the stain in the etch can be buffed out.
