German Stilettos

Some German companies have products with their name stamped on the blade of a knife that looks like it came from Italy or even the exotic Orient. The reason for this? The knife came from Italy or the Orient. This is not deceptive German law requires an importer to stamp his name on a knife. If a kni...

$9 bills

There was an individual who printed his own money, however he somehow
printed $18 bills. He took them as far out into the country as he could and ask for change. They asked him if he wanted three Sixes or two nines.

Changing Favorites

Today my favorite [at least the one I carried] was a 9" Cheap Switchblade. Black acrylic scales, standard blade. But for an all
purpose knife a Leverlock is always my favorite. I really like 'em all
and carry a different one every day or two.

Stir Fry

I really like your sense of humor. One time when I was in the Hospital they kept taking blood until i felt like a pin-cushion. I told them to stop before I needed a transfussion. Ten minutes later you guessed it, they start a transfussion. then another Doctor comes in for more blood. I told him to t...

For several years I made custom knives [mostly fixed blade]. I made them by stock removal [grinding]. I had just started to try forging when a bleeding ulcer nearly killed me. While I was recovering I more or less by accident got into Switchblades and haven't had spare time for much of anything else...

The only risk with the cheap ones is the lack of a warrenty.
I have had several cheap 9" that locked open as tight as any
$200 High-Tech Switchblade. I've never had a customer return one
so they must hold up fairly well. I wish the 9" cheap came in real Horn
I could sell lots of them.

A Dremel with a felt point loaded with polishing compound pushed into the hole in the blade will help, but procede slowly it's easy to over-do it and end up with a "hair trigger". Also as soon as the blade feels even a little warm dip it in water. It's possible to build up heat to the point it hurts...

The Buck conversions [and most others] are fairly precise operations that require machine tools [milling machine at least] and near as I can tell are not a simple "do it yourself" operation. Maybe someone can be of more help, but I've never seen a schematic or blueprint and looking at the knife woul...

Sim horn

This will sound very un- conventional but, try storing it with the blade closed and see if it makes a difference.

The oils in fingerprints contain a high level of salts. That's why everyone
who owns a Gun Shop spends time after they close wiping the guns with
a oiled cloth.
Blood is even worse, it's sure to cause rusting on anything that will rust.

If you plan on that much fun, there's no need for him having an escape plan. Let's bust him out. On my list of work type things I have to do today was "take plow off Jeep", I can leave it on for your type of adventure. It
can help deflect any "responces" we might get.

I usually switch my carry-switch every day or two. Today it's a 9 1/2"
Frostwood LeverLock with partially serrated blade. [This is a favorite].
The Hubertus Camper style frequently makes the list and so does the
Hubie with the saw blade.

Only to the extent that if not wiped off they can cause rusting.
