Re: Blade pictures,WOW!

Recent addition to the family: Picked this one up from the auction a little while ago. The basic knife is a Frank B. 11" Bayonet with stainless steel bolsters. The knife was re-scaled with Ostrich bone. Very thick and highly polished scales (too thick to include safety according to the mangler). htt...

Great job breathing life back into a pile of old bones.
Peter44 has provided a truly rich source for inappropriate comments but, since I'm a gentleman, I'll refrain.
But it ain't easy. :D

Congratulations on getting this far and not being in jail or dead.

You've got to love those "barn finds" and the stories that go with them.
You're a lucky guy.

I've given up trying to figure out who is making what in Maniago. I just accept whatever is stamped on the tang and call it good.

Re: HELP PLEASE!

JerrBear: Probably the result of a stray mouse click somewhere along the line. Sometimes just going through a normal shut off procedure can get it back. Not a restart, a shut down and power off. Then power it back on. Be sure to give it time to completely start everything back up (usually at least 5...

Re: A new Maniago

I have a 15" and 18" AGA with swivel bolsters and both have the swivel lined with brass. Not a common practice but it can be done usually with brass much thinner than the regular liner. Sorry for the poor quality of photos. Done on the kitchen counter. Edge on. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v675...

Re: Merry Christmas to me with help from George Cameron

They're both pick locks. The underside of the lock tab is ramped to ease wear in the lock pin. (more photos of details in a day or so) That isn't the same burl that I was talking about for the Falcon. I'm bugging the producer for more of it but don't know when they'll get another run of it in. The b...

Gee, if I'd known you wanted it I would have sent it to you. Now you wouldn't get it till after Christmas and it just wouldn't be the same.
Maybe next year :P

Merry Christmas to me with help from George Cameron

Posted this over on SD but thought I'd repeat it here for those who don't frequent that forum. First off my best wishes for all of the forum members for the Holiday Season. It seems the fat guy with the red suit doesn't live at the North Pole after all. My season got off to a really good start when ...

Re: Year Of The Cat

I owned a 63 E type Coupe for several years. Hands down the prettiest car I've ever owned. Overall a very solid well designed example with the exception of the PITA Lucas electrics but at least they were easy to get to and fix. When it was first introduced Enzo Ferarri called it the most beautiful c...

Re: Two of a kind

Nice looking pair. Good looking horn on the swinger. I only have one without noticeable play in the guards and that's a Falcon manual.
Shows some attention to detail on the part of the builder.

Re: There I Was...

Best of luck for a rapid and full recovery. We're a pretty small community as it is and can't afford to go around loosing members. The unplanned interactions with gravity seem to produce the worst results. I was a jumper for 40 years and the worst I was able to do was a broken heel and it was my fau...
