Re: Your oldest Latama?

Wow - gorgeous knives, guys.

I only have the one, and it's a young whippersnapper compared to the knives posted above.

Re: 9" Flatguard Picklock

Very pretty. I like the shapely handle proportions, the unusual locktab, the through-hole and the pronounced sear relief. That old gal's gotta be pushing, what? Eighty or ninety? She's almost a bona fide antique.

Re: New "BARON"

Those are both beauties. Either AGA is using some unusually nice horn on these or you two hit the jackpot.

I may have to break my two-piece spring rule and grab one of these when they're back in stock.

Re: What's your fav non Italian auto?

Thanks.

I don't particularly care for Tony's business practices, but he sure can bevel-grind and polish a (CNC'd) blade. But then, he learned from Walter Brend, one of the Greats in that department.

Re: What's your fav non Italian auto?

I have a soft spot for the original version of the MT Cypher with the stepped milling. They're on the large side, but the handle is very flat and lightweight. Here's a Marfione version with a high-polished hollow grind, and a shot with a Halo V for a size comparison. The single-edge factory version ...

Re: 10" AGA

You know my love for these pieces Thom, and after extensive/constant searching...I was lucky enough to acquire only ONE in this blade grind with Ram Horn. So, yours, mine and one that recently sold at auction, I've now only seen a total of three... Make that four. :) https://live.staticflickr.com/7...

Re: Have there been any updates on this AGA knife?

Bumping the thread now that they're available. Anyone else eyeballin' these? In spite of the high price, I was ready to pull the trigger, but after watching the (somewhat amusing) video, it appears that they're using a one-piece kick and backspring arrangement, which is usually a deal-breaker for me...

Owww...waspy. I like it!

I've also seen those referred to as "pagoda" bolsters, "derby" being reserved for short bolsters, but YMMV.

Re: Vintage Picklocks on a Budget

Thanks for the comments, guys. I read on the SD board that a cashe of B.Svobodys were found in a warehouse with badly deteriorated horn scales and subsequently re-handled in ram's horn. Maybe they were also re-handled in wood? Rosewood and cypress: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48800895501_84d...
