Re: "The Toy That Kills" article - 1950
Ends don't justify the means, a war crime is a war crime, no matter the motive. Geneva convention doesn't have a provision that allows for atomic/nuclear warfare or attack on civilians to prevent additional violence. Gotta call a spade a spade. War crime, literally in the letter of the law.

Re: "The Toy That Kills" article - 1950
Not that I necessarily disagree with you there, apart from the original constitution, you know, not really considering women or nonwhites as people, though I'd personally chalk up the ban of switchblades to a bunch of career politicians who wanted their name on a bill that supposedly kept America's ...

Re: "The Toy That Kills" article - 1950
However, that's another topic entirely, my point being that I highly doubt that the original author of this piece was part of some socialist agenda...

Re: "The Toy That Kills" article - 1950
Oh believe me, I'm no truman fan - his warcrimes speak for themselves. Hardly a socialist, though..unlikely to pick one to write for him, especially in those times, but i digress.

Re: "The Toy That Kills" article - 1950
Luke ~ I got to page 3 but did not see anything relevant to knives and was unsure how to proceed.....? Page 3 is my sourcing on the fact that the author of The Toy That Kills was a former ghost writer for Harry Truman, just to point out that he who composed the "Socialist claptrap," according to Fi...

Re: "The Toy That Kills" article - 1950
What pure Socialist claptrap! You sure? Hard to expect such agendas penned by one of Harry Truman's own ghost writers! http://pdf.oac.cdlib.org/pdf/berkeley/bancroft/m86_14_cubanc.pdf (page 3) The ultimate bill itself, I think, was probably about minorities more than it was about the knives themsel...

Re: A couple of my favorite Frank Beltrame’s
Frank B's Kriss blades are the most aesthetically pleasing ones I've personally handled from modern times - I think it's the ridge in the middle - others from other cutlers are more rounded. He also puts an actual edge on em... or at least he did with mine. https://i.imgur.com/65EEMhy.jpg https://i....

With access to the best health care in the world, the president I doubt the president will be done in by his own age and health - everyone and their cousin was pretty sure McCain wouldn't make it past a first term if he won in 2008, lo and behold he was still kickin' to save Obamacare 9 years later ...

Re: Frank Beltrame hole in the blade
The newer Frank B's are coming with and without the oval hole. I just got 3 current production knives within the last 6 months. An 11" and 8" in stag with swivel bolsters.... they are not drilled out. The third , a swing guard has the oval hole. None of my new Frank B knives..... their construction...

I say if the knife is nearly trashed, like the first BV&F I found was - restoration is almost always good thing.

Re: What happened to autoknife.com
Armando Beltrame continued making knives up until 2017 or 2018 and conveniently had his own stamp, which is nice. In general, it appears that the quality improvements in Maniago cannot be forced by any outside individual, but rather an insider (like Angelo Campolin) had to influence others by implem...

A&B Cutlery (seeking info)
Greetings folks, I have received today a neat little 8'' picklock from the 50's (I assume) marked A&B Cutlery. I am told this is tied to Beltrame in some way, but would love input from someone on this forum if they know more in-depth about it. It strikes me as perhaps one of the more obscure stamps ...

Re: Rizzuto quality?
Rizzy's are a crapshoot, even the best of them are low quality knives to begin with. For the life of me I can't understand why anybody wants them, let alone for well above the price of genuine Italians who's quality is far superior to that of Rizzy's. I can only chalk this logic up to some sort of w...

Re: Finally a 9" Latama
Great knife, leave it alone! Also, for whatever reason, it seems like 9'' is rarer from the "golden age" of stilettos, unless every knife show I've attended was nearly-devoid of the size. 8'' and smaller, then 11'' and bigger have been more plentiful in my limited experience looking at cases and wha...
