Thank you!
OK-- Sounds like this D2 is perfect for us! Not only does it stay sharp but you get to touch it a lot! Ceramics, well, not happening yet. I can't afford a couple hundred for a 'disposible'. For travel, the little Blackie Collins letter-opener folder looks reasonable. I'd like to run one through a ma...

So tell me about D2 steel
I understand D2 is the latest and greatest... but why is it, what is it, and who uses it?
On a related topic, is ceramic useless as a blade material and why do ya think so?
Thanks

I hear ya-
True enough, the 'Bay is a blessing and a curse. I recently picked up a Colt M-16-K on there for a great price- $40 -BUT the shipping was a bloated $9.00, so all told it was about the same as winning a $46 auction with $3 shipping, I figure. I try to just look at total cost and compare it with other...

until the CQC7 shows up...
The little blade in my Leatherman PST has been through heck 'n back and I sharpened it for the first time in it's 3-year life just last week. I kind of take it for granted, but it's been an outstanding little cutting tool since day 1 and holds a very good edge through daily abuse. The rave reviews h...

Washington State oddities
Up here, where you can't buy Everclear or get a class-III license, a CCW will not allow you to carry auto knives. You can carry a blast-o-matic .44 magnum Automag, but a spring propelled 1 cm. pipe-cleaner? Noooooooooooo! However, if you have just one arm, you may carry and posess an auto knife; als...

another childhood experience...
It was some neighbor kids... we were all about 7 years old at the time- their dad was an Oregon State Patrol officer, and he had confiscated (what I know now to be) a little italian stilletto, must not have been more than a 3" blade, and with a busted spring... he'd given it to them for the afternoo...

Spring
I haven't tried it on my own hand- or anybody elses er, yet, anyway... but you can put a towel on top and hit the button... and voila! Blade shoots through towel. Almost as good as rabbit from hat. It's pretty scary that way, even worse than without the towel. BTW know where I can pick up some Sears...

I was gone awhile
Thanks for the BreakFree link! I ran around town and found a store here that stocks CASES of the stuff. And eight stores that had people all looking like deer in the headlights: "Powder Whaaaaa?". My first 'blade was/is an AB 11" bayo with white scales, and that's how I found y'all over here. Good t...

If you are referring to http://www.bladeforums.com/ then it's a no-go for me too. Can't even get the page to open.

Great stuff for easy cleaning...
A few days ago I ran across an older 'how to' thread that mentioned flushing your er, mini flashlight with WD40, and how that stuff can build up and become gunky- Here's a great product from our neighbors, the shooting community: Break Free Powder Blast ... made by the same folks that make Tri-Flow ...
