F P, I really question the demand for such a knife. Most of us collect stilettos for reasons other than to have them serve tough duty. Quite frankly, there are better designs for heavy duty use. The larger the knife, the more of a lever arm the blade is. This means that it is easier to place more st...

mr_edge, Yes, and more would be even better. How often have we read posts by those fortunate enough to have the old picklocks with the extra thick backspring / kickspring, where they extol the virtues of the kick? Imagine a 9, 11, or even a 13 inch stlitto that kicked like a godfather :D :D :D Jim

F P, Welcome to the forum. The issue is whether we are referring to production stilettos or custom stilettos. I suspect that some of the responses assumed a production stiletto perspective. Customs (no pun intended) are in a different league as I'm sure you know. Remember, you can get 20 +/- product...

sgreen,

Apparently there is some confusion. The fish knife auction that we were claiming to be a misrepresentation is on e-bay. Ken's is on BA. Around here, Ken is "Known by us in the loop as a good one"

Bonzo, Rather than attempting to be clever, I sent a straightforward message to the seller explaining that he / she has been exposed among the collector community. As you recommended, lots of us should do the same. All, I hate to sound like the proverbial broken record, but it would serve us well to...

Bonz,

I'll do the same as soon as I think of something clever, well at least clever for me. That is outright fraud!

blackjack, I don't know if you have these in the part of Canada where you live, but in North Carolina USA we have these insects called Junebugs. They are about the same size, weight and shape as a watermellon, except that they have wings and can fly. Taking a Junebug to the face shield at speed rend...

mr_edge,

The backspring on my 9 inch swing measured 0.135 in. and measurements from some of my modern 9 inch Italian stilettos yielded 0.115 inch values, rendering the swing's spring about 17% thicker.
