J-man: He gets the knives from me. (But I still do not understand why people buy at these prices)... Vargant: The latch pin and the spring are separate parts even on the old models. But now the latch pin itself is made of two pieces.... Actually there are two springs also. One that holds the lock ba...

IMO the American companies spend more on R&D so the knives have to be more expensive. On the other side most European companies do not produce that many varieties or new models so the production per piece is cheaper.

The reason we are getting so much junk is that "nothing is perfect?" Come on, fellas! NOBODY expects "perfection." Try "quality control" - there ain't none! I just received 3 auto's from Europe. Two of them don't work properly! They obviously weren't tested before they left the factory. Let's stop ...

There might be two problems actually. Sometimes the spring is too strong and the blade does not have time to lock and is kicked back a bit by the back spring. But if your knife does not open fully = opens slow, the spring is too weak. If you e-mail me your address I will send you a stronger one. You...

Mikov design change is here...
Hello, I have just received first knives with the design change we discussed some time ago. I did not notice it at first but then when some of the knives were a bit more difficult to fire I started wonder what is wrong. I check all my knives and sometimes there are some problems... but not too many....

J-man: During the communist regime (1948-89) Mikov was one of the biggest knife companies in Eastern Europe. The company was owned by state and its production was much higher than today. With the markets open and competition especially from China it is difficult for them to get to foreign countries ...

Well I think the production of the "regular" multibladed versions will increase in near future. But the "SAK" Mikov as you can see here will probably never be produced by Mikov.
