Bent Back Spring (Swivel Bolster Switchblade)

Bill: I have a "J" marked Italian swivel bolster. It looks like someone pushed down too hard while cutting and bent the back spring so it won't lock when fired. The spring is complete and does not appear to be cracked just bent away from locking stud on the blade when open. Thinking about trying to ...

Big fan of the K-frame .38 & .357 S&W, yours is excellent. I have a #14 w/ 6.5" barrel, sweet shooter.

Re: Would the Rizutto ever make a 'comeback'?

man as much as the real Rizzuto swinguards are going for you could have a complete custom made copy that would blow the original away . This is one of the things that I like about knife collecting. For me, I am in 100% agreement. For the next guy, he's shelling out a pantload. I traded off ...

Italy Fake Switchblade Info Request

What is the approximate vintage of the fakes and how rare are they? (I would guess post ban or were they offered prior to it, ~1958?) This one is 8", no bug bites, tight lock-up, factory edge, mostly mirror polished, and no sharpening marks. It looks to have been carried as there is some corrosion o...

The only thing you can be sure of is that each year there will be fewer of them if you are button pressing.

Re: Question about the knife show this Sunday in Marlboro Ma.

Last tims I checked, a switchblade was a FELONY [even in your own house] in Mass  Bzzzzt! Incorrect! According to the interweb knife law breakdowns, not only are they not illegal, you can even carry them (if you have a Class A CCW)! I've even had police officers come into my shop and sell the...

Re: Question about the knife show this Sunday in Marlboro Ma.

The Mystic CT show is quite good. Maybe 60-75 vendors when I went a few years ago but the majority were quality. It is a really nice show.

Re: Another estate sale, another letter opener.....wait a minute...???

Judging by the thick carbon steel blade and design I feel confident this is a dagger but not necessarily a woman's dagger. Many English daggers were ornate and carried in the belt, sometimes with no type of sheath. Is the handle genuine MOP? If so this could possibly date it earlier than my first gu...

Re: Question for Bill, Inconsistent Lock-up on Vintage US Switchblades

I'll swear I answered this post already. Hmm. Ok- these knives were adjusted at the pivot area to have resistance at the near-open position. Sort of like brakes to slow the blade right before lock up. It's usually a fairly simple process for me to repair it without disassembling the knife. Note- Pe...

Question for Bill, Inconsistent Lock-up on Vintage US Switchblades

Bill: I've only noticed this on some vintage US switchblades. Press the button to open but sometimes they don't lock up and the blade bounces back. Timing it so that you release the button as the blade hits the max opening point seems to minimize this. But sometimes they don't do it at all and latch...
