Re: 9" La Vespa Picklock
Nice knife, Chris. My understanding is that Zoppis was a trading company that purchased knives from Maniago and added their own stamp for export. I've seen several photos of Latama-style two-piece flatguards (I assume from the early '50s) bearing their name, but FWIW, your knife looks like a Mauro M...

Beautiful! I'm a little surprised that your waspy Havlin in ancient bone isn't in there, too. I friggin' love that knife.

Re: New 11" AGA Wasp
Nice one, Thom! The rear scale reminds me of the horn on an old Rosco picklock on mine, but yours has more going on. That layered translucent quality you sometimes see in Brazilian horn reminds me of antique tortoise shell.

Re: New Kershaw Launch 8 (Stiletto made in USA).
Nice looking design. I don't have a lot of hands-on experience with Kershaw autos, but the few I own are very grip-sensitive: If you hold the handle too tightly or loosely the blade tends to recoil off the stop pin and fail to lock-up consistently. Hopefully they've addressed this tendency with thei...

Re: Heads Up: AGA Flatguards back in stock
Yeah, I wish 3Knives would provide individual pics of their knives like Walt does. It's a lot of extra work, but I'd be happy to pay a reasonable premium for the opportunity to pick a particular knife out of a lineup. And not just for the aesthetics of the scale material but also for straightness, d...

Re: Heads Up: AGA Flatguards back in stock
Great pics, Chris. Mine arrived yesterday. Fastest turnaround from Austria yet. There are subtle differences between my 2016 and the new 2019, as one would expect. The front bolster on the '19 is much more refined in shape and finish. My '16 bolster has sharp edges, while the '19 is nicely rounded; ...

Very cool knives, and each one is unique.
What are they? Around eight inches OAL?

Heads Up: AGA Flatguards back in stock
No mention of Renzo P this time. FWIW, these look nice and straight. There were a few real bananas in the last (2016) run.

Re: Black Widow N2
Great score, Thom! I wondered what happened to the other two protos (3Knives offered two that I'm aware of; one in stag; one in horn with pearl dot inlays). It's an interesting design that's obviously trying to check all the boxes. Can't wait to get one when they hit the shelves in Fall (or who know...

Hoookay, now I'm really confused. How can you tell what the rocker looks like without disassembling the knife? Fiber optics? X-rays? Nanites?

Re: My First Latama
Thanks for the feedback, guys. Always learning something new around here. Do you have the Latama Legend book? Yes the Latama kris blades were only produced from roughly November of 1950 through about September 1951. That was newly discovered information in the book. If it says in Switchblades of Ita...

Re: My First Latama
If the button was turned, the cylindrical sides were then filed into subtle irregular facets for reasons unknown. I've tried to capture them, but the results are sketchy. There's also a small dent on the top of the button. I'd think that a knock against a hard surface would scratch, rather than dent...
