2nd filework attempt

Copy of DSC03871.JPG Copy of DSC03877.JPG Copy of DSC03879.JPG I did not post pics of the first attempt because I screwd it up early on and have used the kit blade to practice on. Although this was supposed to be thorn & vine, it really looks more like flames to me. You can see my mistakes if you l...

Re: Cutting a Burl Knot

My brother-in-law is co-owner of a tree service in middle GA. I spoke with him this evening and he has informed me that they come across most varieties of indigenous burl wood all the time. He told me that they pick out select pieces for a guy down the road that makes bowls, cups and other assorted ...

Re: is it to late ?

Ya' know, here in metro ATL, we have a radio program called "The Regular Guys Show" that's on air fron 6-10 a.m. est. They go out and interview homeless people and such as this, but they incorporated folks standing in line to vote this last time around. You would not believe some of the things peopl...

Re: NEW MINI LEVERLOCKS !!

I got a light horn from HDC the other day and it has been in my pocket ever since. The only other knife I own that snaps as hard as this one is a Hubertus Guardian. Overall great fit & finish and has proven to be very useful. If they come up with a kit version, go ahead and put me down for a few!!

Re: Cutting a Burl Knot

I've not worked with birch much as it is not common here. They should look nice. Please post pix when you're done. Thank you very much for the advice. I may have a problem with this piece. I went ahead and cut slices about a quarter inch thick and have enough to make scales, but there is a weak str...

Re: Interesting Article

One more point, we have thousands of charitable organizations in the US that will pay for some extenuating circumstances already. I think the govt needs to re-think things here. People seem to give freely to some of these charities (Scottish Rite and Eggleston come to mind) on a regular basis. Peopl...

Re: Interesting Article

If you REALLY believe that it will be limited to "life and death emergencies" and not expanded to include, "care needed for health and well-being" [at the same time those services are reduced/eliminated for seniors] you REALLY ARE both DIM AND BRAINWASHED In my short time on this earth, I have lear...

Cutting a Burl Knot

I wondered if anyone here could point me in the right direction on this. I found a small, half dead Birch tree with a nice burl knot in it yesterday. I cut the knot out and took it home. Here's what it looks like... burl knot 001.jpg burl knot 002.jpg burl knot 003.jpg I guess I gave away my plans f...

Re: Interesting Article

The "End of Life Counseling" that is mentioned in the bill leaves way, waaaay too much wiggle room for the govt to decide who they can cover and who they can't. It never comes out and blatanly says " We're going to counsel people toward the euthanasia option", But it leaves room for this to happen i...
