Stone,
The cloth abrasive you're referring to is called crocus or crocus cloth, and any tool supply or industrial supply in your are can probably supply it. It comes in a number of grits, all a lot finer than sandpaper, is handy stuff to have around.

Mr. Floater,
The answer to the question of; What is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything? Is..... 42.

For your other questions, I have no answers, but will ask everyone I know.

You couldn't have half a brain and not be concerned, occasionally. This society is afraid of its own shadow, and scared people do stupid things. Like banning witches and burning guns, or something like that. I think we sometimes forget that the weak feel threatened by everything, and they want to ma...

When you've spent the better part of the afternoon, and early evening looking at this website, knife builder supply sites, sites from other related sources, etc., realize it's around 22:00 hrs, then check your email. You find a note from your girl which has that "we have to talk" red flag sticking o...

Plastered, No, I "traded up" to a Strat in the 60's, then went through a succession of Gretsch, Fender, Rickenbacker, Gibson models, before the real world intervened and I realized I could make a better living as a draftsman than as the next Jimi Hendrix. But what a ride! I've still got my old Ricke...

Blackjack & Plastered, Man, 3 Link Wray fans in one place; most people don't remember who he is, unless they play guitar, or remember those black & white late 50's, early 60's days. Spent many teenage hours mastering Jack the Ripper, Ace of Spades, etc. on my '59 Fender Duo-Sonic. The guy was a majo...

Blackjack, "Hey TR; If you find out anything different about Link Wray, please don't let me know." Wouldn't think of it, you might retaliate by making fun of Alvin York. Link did record a tune called Switchblade . Or at least that's what I remember it as. It was in the 70's; I think he was trying to...

I went to a catholic school, a poor one. We had some arrangement with the local high school and shared their school busses. I met a lot of influential kids who were evil; girls with teased hair and sexy outfits, kids who swore and smoked, and some of them even carried transistor radios. It was a yea...

Better mousetraps

If anyone here would direct me to information on the internal workings of the various types of stilettos, it would be much appreciated. My knowledge of how they're designed is limited to a few modern "off the shelf" units I've taken apart. I'm modifying a 9" production model now, and while I admire ...

Vagrant, I remember that one. We did the play in high school; I think it was called "Hitler on the Roof". Something about a bumbling but well meaning corporal with a hilarious head injury. I sang the lead vocal in the "Mein Summer Kamph" mime number. Couldn't act well; I had a car but a wheel fell o...

Bali,

No, I'm OK. Thanks for asking. It's just my sense of humor; there's only so much one can do in twenty-two thousand days, and I believe the awareness of it can be a positive motivator.

Greetings to you all

I'm new at this; have owned 4 autos in my lifetime. 2 beat up hand-me-downs, a keychain 4 1/2" for which I recently had to make a new (kick?) spring, and most recently, a 9" stiletto purchased from a source I'm sure you all know quite well. The 9" was of good quality for the money, but I was not sat...
