There probably are not a lot of young people in Solingen who are interested enough to become good cutlers.

Very good description and diagram! Remember to always keep the point pointed down, too. I generally try to buff diagonally from hilt to tip.

Actually, I think it should have a plain nickel silver ring instead of a lever.

Perry The knife was probably made that way. It's difficult to tell from your pics, but there is probably a missing fulcrum for the backspring. I can't see anything wrong with the blade, but the absense of pins in the rear scale doesn't make sense. Why don't you send it to me so I can figure it out? ...

I see. I think it's a great idea! I would hard solder the folds, though. Let the solder job cool naturally. Do this after you have hardened/tempered the entire spring. Maybe it's too early for me, but I don't understand. You'll have to explain it in more detail for an old fart like me....

Mine are tight as can be.
Possibly bending the sides of the liners in, and peening the tab on the blade might tighten them. It would depend on the particular knife.

Collectors seem to have a soft spot for some of the first knives they were exposed to. In the 1970s, Rizzutos were abundant in Mexico, so they were the first knives many acquired. Due to their quality, not many lasted long. Now that the people who used to have one have matured financially, Rizzutos ...
