Looks like western made several blade and guard markings on these. Earliest one made in late 50's to about 1965 with the "Western Boulder Colo. USA" logo on one side and "Bowie" on the other side. Then the blade markings said "Western Bowie USA" on one side of the blade only, from 1966 till about 19...

Very good knives, with outstanding marketing skills behind them. You would have to decide yourself if they were worth the money charged.

Look at Shinichi Watanabe's website. He makes very nice kitchen knives at a reasonable price. His carbon steel knives are the sharpest, but he also makes knives of stainless steel if you're looking for easy maintenance - and they are still very sharp.

Is it necessary to turn items over after the 30 minutes to expose the other side to the UV?

Hello Ian, Thanks for the reply. It is a nice knife, and my first Southern Richardson. As I understand it, the third type FS used some hand-ground blades left from the second type. Once those ran out, The Story Goes that they then went to machine ground blades. At any rate, like you, I love the dagg...
