Re: Identifying & Pricing My Father’s Collection

They are definitely worth taking more pictures. Here are some values of some of your knives based on recently sold prices I've found- The Dalton Militia with "Proto" on the blade and black handle- I see one sold last year for $1350.00. CORRECTION: that's an asking price, not a "sold" price. The clos...

Re: Coyotes

I can't stand people who feed wild predators. They think of them as pets, or their "babies". People can be so unbelievably stupid. Watch your back. Coyotes often hunt in packs and they know what they're doing. While you're focused on the one you can see in front of you, others might be sneaking up b...

Re: Identifying & Pricing My Father’s Collection

Welcome to the forum Rfturner. My advice would be to first take and post some group shots of the knives so we can get an idea of what you have. Many times I've seen people in situations like yours where they inherit large collections and it turns out the knives just weren't worth selling, or not wor...

Re: Latama switchblades

Send them back to Latama. I can't imagine paying $500 or more for a knife and then keeping it even though it has flaws that make me unhappy. One of the problems with the Italian switchblade market is that people buy flawed knives and then just accept the flaws, so the makers have no motivation to in...

Re: Shellpuller ID

Does it have a locking blade? I don't see any lock or lock release method. Or is it a button-open/button-close? I wonder if someone simply took the shell puller bolsters from a different knife and pinned them on a stiletto. The bottom bolsters appear to be made flush with the handles, but not the sh...

Re: Hellraiser

It's always been my understanding that "Hellraiser" is a specific model of knife, specifically- the Spanish swing guard featured in the movie "Hellraiser", which is how the knife got it's name. The knife pictured above is a Spanish stiletto. Calling that knife a "Hellraiser" would be like calling an...

Hey, knife-wielding squirrels ain't no lie.

You know you live in a tough neighborhood when you get mugged by a squirrel :D .

There's a video of this little guy on youtube.

Re: Just scored my first picklock!

I'd say "the blade has a bit of wear" is a bit of an understatement  . A lot of steel has been removed from that blade. Both main edge and false edge.

Still, not bad for $40.

Re: Edge Brand Bowie

Based on design and size I'd say that's a model 485. One I would describe as "similar condition" sold on ebay last month for $79.

Re: Help Identifying a cat's head tang stamp

I don't know who used the cat stamp, but the knife was made by G.O. Massaro in Maniago, Italy. Thanks Bill. At least that confirms the origin of that knife. And it means the guy selling it had the origin correct. So maybe he was also right about the stamp being French. After extensive searching I'v...

Re: Help Identifying a cat's head tang stamp

I post these pics in the hopes that it helps with the identification (same stamp as the OP's knife). I came across this knife a few years ago while looking for "cat" tang stamps for someone, but I've never been able to identify it. The person selling the knife described it as Italian-made for the Fr...

Re: Latama v Frank B

The Frank Beltrame brand knives should have 4mm thick blades and springs, but the Latama's have 5mm thick blades and springs.

Of course they were all made by "Frank Beltrame", but I assume that FB and Walt Haluchua of Latama have an agreement that FB will only make 5mm thick stilettos for Latama.

Re: Interesting Box..!

You're welcome Roy. That really does look like a Jody Samson knife to me. I'm no expert, but I've looked at several online, and I don't see anything to make me think it isn't a Jody Samson. If you go to Arizona Customs and do a search for "Pacific Cutlery", you can find several Jody Samson/Pacific C...
