Re: I'm heading back to Tijuana.

I found nothing close to an automatic knife in Tijuana when I visited, and I intentionally went to the shadiest swap meets possible. Good on you for finding stuff!

Re: Covid shot

I got my first shot (Pfizer) in mid-February, second one is scheduled on the 20th. I had to drive all the way out to a place called Gardner, MA - never heard of it but apparently it's the furniture capital of new england... first shot gave me a sore arm for 2 days. My girl got the Moderna very early...

Re: Closing a picklock one handed...

I can close the smaller picklocks with one hand, the bigger they are the harder and depending on how much give the locktab has.

On the off chance you only have one functional hand, you are actually exempt from some switchblade bans in several jurisdictions, I believe.

Re: Quality

I rapid fired a Milano from 2008-2014 and eventually the spring broke. I've never had that happen on an Italian. I have, however, had the trigger sears wear down and prevent the knife from staying closed. It's basically a piece of metal the size of a couple toothpicks on the modern knives. Only a ma...

I've seen them called both Calibro and Extractor - but also for levers.

Re: Quality

Storing them open vs closed is one debate that has reputable sources on either side - rapidfiring is an entirely different issue and basically everyone can concur it's the worst thing you can do to an automatic knife. Except maybe running it over with a car or sharpening it on a cinder block.

Re: Quality

I have read over and over how the quality of established Italian switchblades far exceeds that of Chinese counterparts. I ordered and received 3 11" "Frank B" swivel bolster models and a single 13" swivel bolster model. All have brass liners. None have excellent alignment of blade (parallel) with t...

Re: Questions About Ordering From 3knives

Discussing illegal importation is against the rules. Of course if you are not talking about automatic knives, it's perfectly OK! He technically never said anything about having them shipped to the states, merely outside of the EU. Apart from his profile suggesting he's in Utah, it's just as likely ...

Re: Questions About Ordering From 3knives

It's been probably 3-ish years (mid-2018) since I ordered from 3knives, I seem to remember filling out delivery info before billing info, things may have changed. Hopefully they deduct the tax from your order. Returns with them seem hit/miss as their responsiveness over email sort of comes in waves....

Re: Questions About Ordering From 3knives

Make sure when you try to call them to dial 011 before their number to dial OUT of the USA. And I've always had that deduction display in the checkout screen right after specifying my non-EU shipping address. Angelo in my experience is the most fluent English speaker of all of them so don't chalk up...

Re: Quality

from my opinion it seems to occur mostly with natural scales. When they came out of the injection molding machine (acrylic scales) the quality seems to be much better. The SKM knives I got from 3k lately, are stamped " made in Italy" and don't have any major flaws. Yeah a good 60% of the time Brazi...

Re: AKC or a clone?

AKC never made a stiletto of the classic/traditional style. When AKC started in roughly 2001, Angelo bought less than 500 blank tang pieces from Renzo Beltrame and etched them AKC. So if I understand correctly, none of those original 500 were stilettos....? They were all leverlocks? Renzo Beltrame ...

He won't be on call for me when I'm making a decision at a knife show, so I'll play it safe. Speaking of playing it safe, probably will be several years before I feel safe enough to go back to knife shows...lol

I've found that the Latama lubricating oil sort of gums up but never had it seize up a button before-thats pretty bizarre. Victorinox tool oil is my go-to.
