Re: Which are the best quality Switchblades?

If you're looking for European knives - most of what the folks on this forum collect, Mikov leverlocks and Frank Beltrame's B-stealth are my personal carry favorites. The AGA Campolin 'Zero' which is a blend of the first two I mentioned is apparently OK too but in my opinion not worth the money.

Re: Frank B?

It's too bad Frank B pretty much only makes picklocks as limited runs every few years - after all, these limited releases are largely what brought the picklock back! His quality control in general is pretty tight (for Maniago, anyways), but the QC he implements on his picklocks is really something e...

Re: bladeauction.net - New knife auction :)

Thanks so much for sharing your stories about Frank... he does seem like a kind and interesting guy, I've spoken with his daughter as well and she's so friendly too... I hope to one day make it to Maniago before any of these legends pass on, but I know the clock is ticking... :(

Re: bladeauction.net - New knife auction :)

And why collect frank's work, when YOU ARE Frank and just walk out back and pound together a new one as needed. This is a valid point, but, during my years as a blacksmith, I produced a large number of fixed-blade knives, some in my opinion were better than others, and to this day I still hold onto...

Re: bladeauction.net - New knife auction :)

I saw a similar story in the now-gone Fredde10 album on one of the sharperdeal websites ... with a picture! Might have even been a 5 incher! Bet that's worth some real coin. But it appears that Frank is a less-than-materialistic person to not even have a collection after 50+ years in the industry

Re: bladeauction.net - New knife auction :)

Redeye, better save at least two BV&F's for me and Bernie then  - never thought I'd be interested in a manual stiletto but being the Beltrame fan/collector that I am, I'm certainly interested! If the price is right, that is.

Re: Can anyone help?

Those were probably really special to your grandfather and he probably put a lot of work hiding them from your grandmother. That cracked me up! But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do... if my girlfriend saw how many knives I actually have, she might call the cops or something... In any case, very ...

Re: 11" Stag Kris

I’m going to look at a few of my R Beltramre knives. I wonder if any of mine have the same stamp. I’m thinking the die he used may have been worn. Almost all my Renzo Beltrame pieces have this same stamp. It is indeed getting warn as hell over the years lol. Here's one of his 'standard' dark horn b...

Re: 11" Stag Kris

I believe this is a modern stiletto produced by Renzo Beltrame - stiletto italy is the stamp he tends to use for most of his "production" runs - I put production in quotes since he really only produces custom orders for dealers, in contrast to Frank Beltrame who makes a mass run of something, then s...

Re: Carrying a push button stilleto

$120 is out of my price range for something that's gonna get beat up but it certainly does look like a nicer knife. Probably with better steel, too. Not that I've had any issue with the B-Stealth or B-Naked holding an edge, and I cut through quite a bit of thick poly-banding on a daily basis. I have...
