Ditto! That's impressive, (and the blade looks useful too)!

Nice score.

Form follows function. Believe it or not, when I was in High School I had a thing for the International Transtar Cab Over tractor. (Drive into a High School parking lot with that, and watch the heads turn)! :P

Re: Ripper, Jack The

Thanks, Bill. That means that my father's Fishtail Picklock must have been made by someone else. Would you happen to know who might have been manufacturing knives of this type during the mid-1930's? Since I can't ask my father, I would like to know who may have manufactured his old knife. By the way...

Re: Ripper, Jack The

Agan, Dave I doff my bowler to your genius. We shall make this happen and I can die a happy "knife guy". All I have left are memories and a little time left on this sphere. I'd like to enjoy it for all it is worth.

I wish everyone could have the knife that really makes them happy.

Re: Could someone explain the lack of enthusiasm?

I have a Buck Impact 898 (and like it). I also have a "round button" conversion that I have never carried and am selling. (I prefer the "Forever Warranty" that is now, and always has been provided by Buck Knives). There isn't anything wrong with the top-notch, leaf-spring, conversion, but the torsio...

WTS 2014 50th Anniversary "round button" Buck 110 Auto Conversion.

This Buck knife is in NIB condition with the box and unused sheath. I am selling it for $140.00 + $12.00 shipping ($10 for less than I bought it). There isn't a thing wrong with the knife. I am selling only because I just ordered a new 2017 Buck 110 Auto. (I only buy "users" and need Bucks Forever W...

Re: COLONIAL OTF

I'm so glad you found it. I hadn't seen it. I guess that they used 440A steel for a reason (I wouldn't know what that is, but it is their decision). Were it my project, I would have insisted on a minimum of 440C stainless steel hardened to 58-59 HRc. But that's just me. Be gratified that it is cover...

Re: Could someone explain the lack of enthusiasm?

One of the few Italian automatics that are usually sharpened is my namesake. This is why I was enamored of the breed. Deck (line) work, general utility and purpose-built auto knives are what excite me. Utility doesn't always equal boring. Look at the Porsche Panamera, Chevrolet (Holden Monaro) SS or...

Re: Could someone explain the lack of enthusiasm?

Which knives are you going to count on "where the rubber meets the road"? (Firestone ad copy, 1963)

I'll take a "functional" auto any day of the week. I have several Chinese, an Italian or two and a few American autos that I count on to "take care of business".

What do I know?

Could someone explain the lack of enthusiasm?

For American made automatic knives? (Buck, Kershaw, GT, Bear & Sons, Gerber, et al.).

What's the point of explaining the reasons and qualities of domestic knives if they don't garner any response?
