You can try peening the blade pin. Be very careful not to over peen, and bind the blade.

Again, your spring was never properly seated, or it wouldn't fly out.

Since Hubertus knives use a spring that is installed after the knife is built, it may happen again, but now you'll know what to do.

I already have one, but thanks. The 3 blade version with the skinning blade should sell well to deer hunters, if you can convince then it's better than a "gut hook."

The nature of the Italian knives, especially the longer ones, make removing play problematic. Up/down play can be removed by making sure the lock tab and pin fit properly-along with having an unworn pivot pin. Side/side play can be removed by peening the pivot pin, but you will still have flex in th...

Your kickspring is not fully seated in the slot. Lever it in with a small screwdriver. It will open then. This is also what caused the backspring on the other one to break. Use grease, too.

It is very courteous to talk to the other bidder. But remember- these are auctions. When I sell my collection, I'll have to auction the pieces. Who do you decide to sell it to, without pissing everyone else off? There are many people who don't care if they are bidding against someone they know or no...

You probably won't have to take it apart, but if you do, http://www.burnknives.com may have the tools.

Try soaking it in rubbing alcohol, if the WD40 fails. Swish it around in the alcohol, and let it soak, then swish again. Shake/blot dry, and then use a hair dryer to warm the knife-to evaporate all the alcohol.
THEN, try WD 40.

Though I haven't handled the repros, I understand they are a little heavier, because some of the lightening cuts have not been made. They are supposedly more accurate for the same reason. I'm sure any improvement only makes these little guns better!

Yes, but do what Teddy said first. I would just send it back, unless you are willing to take the risk of messing it up.

Vagrant is correct. Close the knife and file the back of the blade where it contacts the tab. One file stroke at a time, until the tab drops down flush with the top of the bolsters. While doing this, check blade alignment and straightness. If anything begins to get out of whack, stop filing and cont...

Some do, some don't. Early ones have separate springs. All will have NS bolsters.
