Re: Stag Transitional from Maniago

The standard 50s picklock (like the MII on the left in my pic) could be considered a transitional as it evolved from the earlier flatguards, which themselves were variations of earlier knives. Yes I've always hated the word transitional. Knives seem to make a noticeable change every 5-10 years so t...

Really nice knife! I love them in solid black horn like this, they look a little more menacing.

Re: 19th century DIRK

It's very crude. Tough thing about knives like this is it could be much older then your guess or it could have been made by a teenager learning iron work in the 1970's.

Let us know what you turn up.

Those are awesome scales. Also a sweet old picklock. Rescale the knife in horn to make it right and put those scales on a new knife. Then you get two great knives out of it

Just my 2 cents)

Re: Probably A Counterfeit

I've owned a few of these, made differently then the 60's bc/bc but I'll say they are 100% Italian. Just made a few years later and a little different. They are cool knives. Tons of them showed up as NOS from Italy. I've also owned a few of the early rem swinguards with the center lockback. Amazing ...

Re: Ring pull fishtail

It's a pretty rare 60s switchblade with a broken spring. Could be fixed if you get the knife cheap, could actually be worth something too once we know what that stamp is.

Re: Walt's 13" Picklocks

Very nice Thom!! I have a few 13" Renzo's and they are some of my favorite knives. Really hard to pick a favorite in that group. The horn on the swedge is pretty amazing. If I remember right someone told me the different signatures are a way to date the runs of these knives. Wish I kept better notes...

Re: Info required please . Any help will be appreciated

Very cool old Flat Guard!!! I would say that knife falls into a category of being made just before or just after WWII. I have an 8" that has very similar features to this one. Your knife has a decent blade, great horn scales, and cool big buttons. On the other end the pivot pin is not original, back...

That's a 1950's Italian shell wrap. I'd say you were paid pretty well for your 20 minutes of work
