Re: A little info on buffing - starting with sheep horn

Ya, I use the cheap 4 inch buffing wheels Menards sells. Pop 'em in the drill press and go! and I designate one wheel per compound - green, white and tripoli so far.

Re: polishing sheep horn

I couldn't find green compound locally so I'll have to get that online for the next project. but I did find Tripoli - the package said it is great for horn so and buffed at 1700 and used the paste wax. Lots of details show up during buffing - mistakes/misses too! Thanks Mr. Bill. http://img.photobuc...

A little info on buffing - starting with sheep horn

I'm not finding much info online at all about finishing this kind of scale material. this is the gold color deep grain kind of sheep horn. I have my scales sanded smooth. Some kind of wax I need? Thanks for your help, sir!

And for lighting I use $5 shop lamps with the non-envrionmental bulbs. you can see on the upper bolsters where the nickel is yellowing cuz I had to put the lamps almost on top of the knife to get a good shot.

Impala jig buffalo horn Leverletto

Hello, I been lurkin around for a while, mostly gathering info and ideas for mikov and leverletto kits and buying kits from HDC.
