I recall the first time I tried one, not all that long ago. It seemed like an intelligence test and I nearly failed it!BTB0923 wrote:

Re: Orignal Blade shape for "Press Button Knife Co" knife
Those have one of the nicest guard/bolster appearances of anything I can think of.
I am surprised the design has not been knocked off on something new.

Wow, what a nice redo.
Did you take any pics of making the blade?

Re: Bargeon 861
Minor update: It fires & locks ~90% of the time with only the occasional bounce-back, no-lock. I saturated it with WD-40 as Bill suggested and it flushed most of the crud out too. One thing I noticed is that this knife seems very sensitive to your grip. Whereas my Italians & Daltons open nearly 100%...

I believe that is plastic flash from the molding process not glue.OleRod wrote:
I do notice there is some sort of a hardened black substance (glue?) around the top bolster and spoted on the tang. Surely the french did not use glue?

Will a magnet stick to the one on the left? If yes, you might have something with that one.dragonsteel wrote:Does anyone here know much about old knucks ? I have these on the way

Thank you! If I do it it is strictly as a learning exercise.Bill DeShivs wrote:It's not worth it. Just flush it out with WD 40, and gently tighten the pivot.
Removing the 2 rivets is a start. There is a third one under the scales.
More that I want to see if I can do it more than anything else.

Re: Bargeon 861
Well, adding a radius on the tang seems to have helped. It opens smoother and the step is much less. Amazing it left the workshop this way but, laisse-tomber . Still, I wonder how much better it would be taken apart & tweaked? Am I correct in that removing the 2 rivet heads is all that is needed to ...

Re: Bargeon 861
I suspect taking this knife apart, thoroughly cleaning, and de-burring it would do wonders. I oiled it last night and this morning there is black sludge coming out everywhere from the tang area. Original assembly was rather "très médiocre". It did improve by just repeatedly pushing the button with t...

Here's mine, it would not lock in open position as found. The blade had a slight left banana and the locking hole closest to the tang was completely full of polishing compound. There was also polishing compound stuck all around the blade & back spring. Geez, the French! I cleaned out the compound an...

Re: Question on Pin Spinners
I use whatever method necessary to properly restore a knife. Different tools to accomplish the goal at hand. Most "spun" rivets can be closely approximated by simple peening, then using a cupped punch to shape the head. Ah hah, light bulb goes off! I was not considering your restoration and ...
