Another estate sale, another letter opener.....wait a minute...???

Got this yesterday, almost did not pick it up. Blued blade is razor sharp, both sides with needle tip, and handle is solidly mounted. About 7 3/8" overall, nickel silver guard, sterling band, and mop handle. Hmmm, could this be a a ladies dagger? Also, what was the relationship between M. Klaas Engl...

Re: So I bought a knife lot locally.....

No Dave. What I said was the KC stilettos were made in Maniago for KC. Recently, they have been made in China. None were ever made in Germany, nor assembled in Germany, nor made with "German steel." I appreciate being set straight on that as well. My first impression was that they were faithful kno...

Re: So I bought a knife lot locally.....

I'm diggin' the Kissing Cranes and hard to tell but second pic upper right corner looks like a Fairbairn–Sykes and two Gerber boot knives. Really like the Gerbers if they are indeed Gerber. Third pic- What are the two butterfly knives in the bottom right corner? The boot knives are a Gerber Blackie...

Last week my regular umbrella was disemboweled in the wind. This one is a very good umbrella and now its replacement.

Re: So I bought a knife lot locally.....

Mos' interesting and varied collection, Mr. novice - You done GOOD! Everything in the group was purchased in the 80s according to the seller. The majority purchased mail-order from ads in the back of Soldier of Fortune, Knife World, Guns & Ammo , etc. A few were purchased at knife shows as well. Wh...

Certainly a Taiwan knife but marked "Edge Co Rostfrei".

..... and it was an 80s time-capsule collection. They even kept some of the original boxes, many from Edge.

It is all in "as new" condition except the Hammer Brand switchblade -

I own it now and it is very cool. Definitely fills the "What is the weirdest knife you own?" slot.

Re: What the heck is this?

Supposedly Chinese military/police knife. Bill, thank you. Now that I know what to call it, that led me right to this - http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/attachments/bayonets-trench-knives-world/499851d1366050181t-chinese-police-dagger-p4140016.jpg As well as the later variant - http://www.warrelics.eu...

What the heck is this?

I vaguely remember seeing one in the 80s but think it was in a low-res B&W photo in a magazine. That is the extent of my recollection. Is it Chinese or Russian military in origin or commercial made to look militaryesque? I really don't know what I am looking at. :?: http://i.imgur.com/kQDZ623.jpg

Re: Major probs with H&K Epidemic knife!

john, one of the best OTF knives is the Lightning OTF about $35-$40. made in Taiwan and is great, have 2 never a failure in either and has good lock up and barely any wobble but it will scape the blade somewhat right in the middle of the Lightning logo so don't get a black blade but a regular one! ...
