Re: Italy vs China Stiletto Seitchblade

Never assume anything about knives!
In general, Italian knives don't use wire springs. Some have steel liners.
If in doubt, ask here.

Re: Question about a Latama picklock my antique shop found

Your button return spring is broken.
The vegetable oil you soaked the knife in will thicken and go rancid. Buy a can of WD 40 and use it to blow out as much of the oil as you can.

Re: Latama MOP 28cm

The pearl on the new Latamas is a laminated pearl-which is pretty resistant to cracking.

The only people they were meant to fool were stupid kids that thought they could be easily converted into switchblades.

Re: Question about a Latama picklock my antique shop found

You do know how to close a picklock, don't you?
If it won't stay closed, that will be an expensive repair, as the knife has to be disassembled, repaired and reassembled.

Maybe a little better, but it still hurts. Will see the heavy duty specialist this week.
Thanks for all the well wishes, good thoughts and concern.

Nah- that hole can be filled. It might show a tiny bit, but should look OK.
Or, we can add a bail!

Re: HUBERTUS Custom by Bill DeShivs

I just put them together as they should be done. The available parts are very crude.
If you look at older Hubertus knives, the bolsters are evenly contoured and rounded. Later knives are just squared off.
