Re: WTB: Display stand

Received my cabinet today and am about to open the box. I will most probably be very happy with the CASTLECREEK Collector's Cabinet Display Case.

Yep, unpacked the display case and it is wonderful. Now I have to fill it up somehow.

Re: Knife Shop.com

So, this is the knife that I received. I ordered a Tortoise Shell handled knife. The knife that I received is the ugliest knife that I have ever seen in my life. It is not even listed on their website. I am raging mad! I am not going to say much about it right now. i am awaiting a reply from Martin ...

Re: Knife Shop.com

We were notified that my Frank Beltrame 28cm stiletto, bayonet blade, swivel bolster, tortoise shell handle has arrived and is awaiting pickup. My wife will trek to town tomorrow and pick it up. I can't wait! All of my communications with Knife Shop.com were promptly answered. I inquired about shipm...

Re: WTB: Display stand

I looked at that chest and it is handsome. The dimensions of the drawers was the thing that I was concerned with. I am wanting to store my knives with the blades open, which requires quite a bit of room. Other than this concern, I would be the proud owner of that chest. Sportsman's Guide notified me...

Re: Introduce myself and websites

Some seem to be the same store with another name: AutoKnife.com and 24-7 Knives.com definitely are the same store. There are other links that I have removed from my Bookmarks which are the exact format and offerings.
I was not referring to the knives but the stores.

Re: Introduce myself and websites

I should be receiving a knife from knifeshop.com (Austria) this coming Tuesday. Some of the shops seem to be rebrands of other shops. The reason for this is a mystery to me. Searching for sources is a very enjoyable part of the process of collecting anything. I do not see the enjoyment of instantly ...

Re: Coricama 13" Early Italian Stiletto Switchblade Model Possibly Battle Worn WWII

Considering the radial ramp toward the slotted bore, is this a common feature of switchblades?

Re: Coricama 13" Early Italian Stiletto Switchblade Model Possibly Battle Worn WWII

Educate me: Does the stamping of the country of origin (stamped in English) indicate that this knife was made in Italy for export the the U.S.A. or England? What is it about this knife that would date it to the 1950s? Does the red dot safety place it to the 1950s? Are these guards "flat"? Are the gu...

Re: Swinguards? What to look for?

I am very concerned that the QA department of F Beltrame would let this part be shipped, and that the production worker who assembled it would have placed it in the "good" pile. To fix the knife pictured above would most likely require a disassembly and replacement of the blade and guard, or maybe t...

Re: Swinguards? What to look for?

Here is a picture of a new Frank Beltrame as advertised on a knife wholesale website (The Knife Distributor). Note the guard. This dampens my ardor to collect this stiletto variation. http://theknifedistributor.3dcartstores.com/F-Beltrame-11-Stiletto-Wood-Swing_p_9105.html https://i.imgur.com/TM6NgF...

I am stunned by filework

In my search for a display stand for my stilettos I stumbled upon the Laguiole cutlery display stand. Pictured on their stand were several knives with absolutely stunning filework. I had no idea that knives were treated with such artwork. This does not bode well for my pocketbook. https://www.origin...

Re: Swinguards? What to look for?

As a casual observer of this type of mechanism, it would appear that the rattling guard would be the number one area of concern of manufacturers of the swinguard type of stiletto. My professional career has been in the field of mechanical engineering and I am intrigued with how the knife makers migh...

Re: Dad worked for Schrade

My dad always carried a "stockman" style Case or Tree Brand pocket knife. He respected the Schrade knives quite a bit. It is quite amazing that a man's career, over a lifetime, will take some interesting twists and turns. To have worked at Schrade may not seems a big deal to your dad, but to his kid...

I totally agree with that assessment. If they were military issue (Franco-German War, WWI or WWII) they would bear markings.
