Re: Some Ebony Scaled Knives
So that old Frosolone uses the same principle as the D stamps but with two brackets to hold the rocker's pivot instead of material from the liners. Is that the same kind of set-up you use for your button assembly? I'm assuming yours is somewhat different as you described yours as a single piece brac...

Re: Some Ebony Scaled Knives
I hadn't thought about the thickness of the liners and how that would affect making D-stamps. I have just started working on knives (virtually every thread this week in the SD "repair" section is a question I asked). Is there somewhere I can see the button assembly you use? I give not a hoot for the...

Re: Superior PROTO FULL SOLID BRASS Part. 1°
Andrea, that looks great. But have you considered making a picklock with brass bolsters? I don't think anything like that (other than the old Frosolones and Stray Dog customs) has ever been made. Also, you should put some dark wood scales on some of these brass ones. And I think SS or NS buttons loo...

Re: Some Ebony Scaled Knives
Those pics do it justice, thanks!
And if the blade is 8mm, that is a thick blade, even considering the size.
That one has D-stamps, right?

Re: Some Ebony Scaled Knives
Nice knife, Pat. Although, it is a little hard to see the blade against that background.
Did you make that one? I'm guessing you did as 22.5" is a pretty unusual size. I believe it's the first I've heard of.

WTB Rizzies that need work
I've been doing some work on broken Rizzutos and having pretty good luck. So now I am looking for more beat up Rizzies to work on. If anyone has any Rizzutos with issues (broken spring, broken rocker, broken scales, whatever) that you'd want to sell, send me a PM. I'm also interested in an 11" Korea...

Re: Legit site?
Yeah, Bladebid is on the level. Because it is an auction site, it really depends on each individual seller but BB tries to take care of the people who use the site as much as they can. Anyone who has double-digit trades and 100% can almost always be trusted. EDIT: Before you bid on anything on BB, r...

Re: Maker of 1961 Italian Stiletto?
It is definitely one to hang onto. I mean, at least for a few weeks and then sell it to me for $3. :P I notice it has a few different characteristics than most other vintage picklocks. The safety slot is longer, the pivot pin is brass and, if I'm not mistaken, the bolsters are SS. Did anyone else no...

Vic,
That is a great find. What kind of condition is the rest of the knife in?

My third Stray Dog Frosolone
I just got my third customized Frosolone (done by Stray Dog). This one has Brazilian horn. It was also turned into a picklock with solid brass bolsters.
You can see my first two here. These ones don't have the custom bolsters.

You should be able to get an idea of how the lockback is set up from the pictures.

Re: I'm gonna need a bigger display case!
That's an awesome display case (definitely professional grade) and the magnetic grip is genius.
You can push everybody over to make room for a few more. Then you'll have to get to work on a second case. Or you could just stop collecting blades .

Re: Some Ebony Scaled Knives
David, you need to finish the line all the way down to the 2.75".
The others could just be black, they don't have to be actual Ebonywood. 42 to 2.75 would make for an awesome picture.

It looks like someone fed it a rat just before the picture was taken.
