Re: Tang Stamps

Here are two paragraphs from an article I wrote several years ago on EIG which should help with the dating of the original posted knife. There were several mail order companies which sold imported knives among other things and a few of the larger firms were “J. D. Clinton”, “Gutman Cutlery Co.” (G.C...

Latama Bandwagon

While I treasure Latama stiletto models as much as anyone, I also have a soft spot for the "other" Latama switchblades.
Here are a couple of hunter models which are favorites of mine. Oval button fulcrum release model on top, and a reverse lever below.

Wonderful collection!!!
But I think you miss-typed in stating "I'm just getting too old" was meant to read "I'm just getting started". :)

Re: A Rare Pair

Okay, I'm pretty new here, so clue me in..... why is it Bad Form to discuss values here? Why should it "be avoided"? What harm is there? For me, it's a useful indicator relating to collector demand, possible scarcity, and condition premium. It's just data -- every bit as relevant as blade length or...

Exceptionally nice pair of Weltersbach lever models, but I would expect no less from you. :)

Re: alphabetized list of Switchblades in Films

While I like seeing the movies in alphabetical order, it would be interesting to see them also in a dated chronological list as Jackalope mentioned.
I am most certainly technically challenged, would it be difficult to display it both ways?

Re: A Rare Pair

Thanks for the nice comments all, and I agree with Jim and Jackalope that pricing should be avoided in a collector based thread. rithvich, yes there is an "airstream" or "art deco" look to those models. Jackalope, There were a few different German-made copies of Schrade press button knives and I wou...

That's a very rare 1950s era Japanese-made out the front model.

Bill DeShivs wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 1:25 am Great pair! I believe there was an Italian copy of the lever auto. Seems like I worked on one.
Thanks, and yes there was, at least as a manual folder. Here it is on top.
Not bad for an Italian copy, but certainly not the same quality as the German Weltersbach models.

A Rare Pair

Here are a couple of Pre WWII knives that are seldom seen. While they are quite similar and both made by Weltersbach, one is a manual folder, and one is a lever action automatic. These two models are unique and interesting on many levels. First, they are all steel construction with genuine stag inla...
