None of the writers ever got paid. They volunteered, as far as I know. I know 3 or 4 of them.

Leverletto/O.F. spring replacement

Tools: Flat file, pin punch, small hammer, 400 & 600 grit sandpaper. Look inside the blade well to see how the rear rivet works. It holds the backspring up flush with the top of the liners. File rear bolster rivet flush with bolster on one side. Try not to file into the bolster. Place knife on your ...

Bill DeShivs needs Leverletto advice!!

As I have never disassembled a third generation Leverletto, I actually need advice from someone who has! I don't even own one of the later models! My question is this: is the "blind" backspring pin peened in place, or is it free floating? I'm pretty sure it is peened. I need to know because I will b...

Never try to drill a pin completely out. It's hard enough to just drill off the head.

File the heads off flush. You then have to sand & polish the bolsters and scales before reusing.

I'll have to see if I have a 3rd generation model. I have not taken one apart.
Yes, we will start a new thread.

I THINK it is cow horn. It may be bleached buffalo horn., or some other animal horn. Sheep horn looks much like it when it is polished.
Cow horn is hollow (except at the tip), and it's not easy to shape it, even after boiling.

Yogi should have a new spring by Monday. I plan on walking him through the installation process here.
Crap! I forgot the newer models don't have an exposed backspring pin! He may have to remove the scales to replace the backspring. In that case, Yogi will need scale pin material.

The German knives rear bolsters are not symmetrical. The Italian version is a bit more pointed, though. While not German quality, they are great values. The German springer lever locks were not generally available in sizes larger than 8" opened. The only ones larger that I have seen were display pie...

The Italian knives are not quite the same quality as the German ones, but are great values.
The Hubertus knives available on Bladeauction, and at Knifeshop are very high quality.
The Leverletto ain't bad, either!
