Re: Colt Automatic

I've considered one of those and it looks like it would be a good utility EDC knife you would not worry about. I like that it has a safety which unfortunately, many American autos don't.

I have one like the one in the original post. Does anyone know when these were made?

Re: Questions about Boker 712R Age and Value

Probably around 2010. Someone else will have to give you value. I'm not a dealer. It's older than that. I have two Bokers I bought new in Germany. The first one was in 1986 and has the shiny blade and the second one I bought in 1991 has the frosted blade. I would guess his was made in the early to ...

Re: Bone-handled Hubertus

Yes, the levers do look larger. I just looked the 11cm stag one I bought a few months ago and the lever is the same size as those on my older 11s. Of course, my new model lever does differ in that it is solid. Jim I can't say for sure but I think it is just the photos which I cropped that make the ...

Bone-handled Hubertus

Not my knives or pictures but I am pleased to see Otter has added bone handles to the Hubertus springers. I am really wanting one in the white bone. These are the only old-style switchblades I am aware of that are comparable in quality to the ones made in the 1950s. I just wish they would make them ...

Re: My 18cm Collection

Nice and that seems like a difficult size to find. I also like the 16 cm stilettos which for me would be great for EDC if I were going to carry a stiletto. I don't think anyone is making those sizes anymore.

Re: Blackboard Jungle picklock

21.jpg 22.jpg 23.jpg 24.jpg 25.jpg The movie has some great shots of the picklock which gets broken at the bayonet point when another character stabs it into a desk. The film makers must have broken the blade and glued or soldered the point back on because I doubt the blade would snap that easily. ...

Blackboard Jungle picklock

As a follow up to my Rebel Without a Cause post, here's a shot of Blackboard Jungle. If you're a fan of 28 cm picklocks, you won't find a better scene than this other than 12 Angry Men which has a 28 cm picklock with kris blade.

Re: Rebel without a Cause picklock

I have seen an Italian picklock with white plastic scales, so it's possible. It's also possible they just painted it white for effect. A couple of shots of the white knife look like it's a square button knife-others make me sure it's not. That's the best theory I have heard. As many of these knives...

Re: Rebel without a Cause picklock

Real picklocks were used for the fight scene. I'm not saying it isn't horn but I have never seen horn that is that bright of a white color. I know horn can age but the examples I have seen were more of an off-white/tan color. I don't think they were originally bright, solid white. I've never owned o...

Rebel without a Cause picklock

Buzz's picklock has solid white scales on both sides. I've never seen a 1950s stiletto that has solid white handles. Has anyone else? Too bad it's not possible to get a close up of the tang stamp.

That's really nice! I had an 11-inch BV&F that I sold when it got to the point I had bought too many knives.

Re: Knife review: Hubertus (Otter) 11 cm. stag

Nice and I agree with your review. I have one just like yours and also the small and medium sizes. I think my medium one is a transitional because although it has a slip in spring, it's not firmly in place like the others and has been sliding forward. Overall, the fit and finish of the Otters is bet...
