Re: Movie Switchblades

In the 1984 Supergirl movie, one of the generic redneck bad guys had some sort of guardless Italian picklock. I am not sure what the exact knife is.

Re: More Additions to the Repair pile....

Oh yes.... It is a lost cause..... I'll be keeping my eye out for a replacement... If i'm luck, I might run across one (one day...) that has a great blade, but has a bad body. Actually, a flatgrind bo/c blade is a great starter replacement job. Once you are ready to try making a blade, that would b...

Re: More Additions to the Repair pile....

I hate to sound pessimistic but you might want to prepare yourself for the possibility that the Bonsa blade can't be saved.

Re: I have RETURNED!!!! The Update

Dang, nice to hear from you. Some of us were bummed when you disappeared. I for one was really hoping we could get another knife worker around here.

And forget those other hobbies. Concentrate on the knives. The world already has enough stamp collectors, or whatever else you were doing.

Re: 9" JTK bolsterless

Nice. Is the lock tab back spring made completely from scratch? Yes, I make the backsprings from the same steel that the blades are made from (almost always 1095). I do the traditional locktab twist. For a while when I started making knives I was intimidated by trying it (I was worried it would bre...

Re: Belt sander recommendations!!

There might be some files that are better on hardened steel but it is still going to be very difficult and will wear the file down pretty quickly. You always want to get the blade as done as possible before treating. Heating the blade should be the last thing you do as you will often want to make ad...

That looks like a shorter dove-tail spring. Can you take a pic of the inside of the handle at the very bottom?

Re: Movie Switchblades

If you check out the Goofs section of IMDb for this flick (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1302006/goofs/?tab=gf&ref_=tt_trv_gf), you will see there were MANY inaccuracies of all kinds. This particular one did not make the list. Lol, those goofs lists find the tiniest mistakes, like spelling errors in...

Next time you hear someone praising the historical accuracy of The Irishman, show them this scene which takes place around 1957.

Re: Problems with jndiana pattada.switchblade

Those have a real awkward button mechanic that ends up with the blade getting stuck shut (or stuck open or won't stay shut). I would try to return it. But if you got it from a site (and not a member here) that might end up being a nightmare.

Re: Reading about blade lock pins on the 101 forum - Pin Question

Not to mention that installing a separate locking pin is actually harder than just making the blade with a locking pin on it.

There is a picture that gets posted from time to time with several liners each with a different button mech.
