Re: Help ID Reciever

Mosin-Nagant for certain - have had a few, nothing else looks even close.
If there are factory/makers marks, they would be under the tang.
Looks like a later one, 1930's.

Re: Imperial/Ireland folding fish knife

Thanks - I didn't remember it being made in Ireland. I will see what I get and maybe keep looking. I'm sure they are out there.

Imperial/Ireland folding fish knife

I used to carry one of these knives in the 1950's and early '60's when I was in high school - it was always in my pocket, then it was gone and I have no idea where it got to. I just bought another one on eBay for about $5, and I wonder if someone has any information on them. I know they were made in...

Re: Meat Packing House Knives

Several years ago we found a box full of these knives at a flea market, and bought about 5 for $1 each. Turns out some are over 100 years old, some ground down pretty far, but all were very usable. They still take and hold a better edge than any other knives we own - no stainless blade comes close. ...

Re: Switchblade ownership illegal in Pennsylvania?

Vagrant: This is not a recent happening-we seem to be suffering from serious dummass as a society for a very long time, and the laws are enforced - or not- as the local big wigs see fit at any particular time. I remember a band from the very end of the 1960's-Canned Heat- whose guitarist was found t...

Re: how some things change after 40 years

When I was in grade school, the 1950's, I used to walk halfway across town every day to school and back home. The same area is now so dangerous I hate to even drive through it in the day light. EVERYTHING has changed, very little has improved. I feel sorry for kids growing up today-there is so much ...

Re: Does anyone here use a double edge razor?

I have a couple of old King Gillette razors left over from when I did flea markets. Used them for years, but I believe the quality of double edged blades really did fall off...I use the cheap plastic house brand throw away razors. Since I retired I only shave twice a week (maybe) anyway, so they las...

Re: 9mm accuracy

I'm glad to see someone place the blame where it belongs-on stupid management. I have read on another forum that the near-death of Colt was due to their "union troubles", which to me translates to the same thing-stupid management. It always amazes me to recall that Colt had the Single Action Army, t...

Re: Switchblade ownership illegal in Pennsylvania?

They were also selling "spring assisted" opening knives at a local WalMart and IIRC, Dick's Sporting Goods. Everyone seems to have a different opinion, but they all are only opinions. I too would like to see s clarification or change in these laws, but don't hold your breath. Our current Governor is...

Switchblade ownership illegal in Pennsylvania?

I have owned a switchblade for several years. It is usually in a drawer it home, except when I take it out for a little compulsive clicking, etc. I have always thought that ownership is legal, carrying is not, but today I was told by a lawyer that it is illegal even to own a switchblade in PA, even ...

I have carried a knife nearly every day for the last 50 years. Never had to use one for any kind of "protection", but have done a lot of utility cutting of stuff, including my lunch on occasion. My protection is an older S&W 9mm auto, mainly, or a revolver of the same brand if I'm in a revolver mood...
