I assume you mean some kind of cold bluing solution. I have never used that, so I can't say for sure. It would be darker, but I don't know if it would be black. Also, the last time I looked, those solutions are a little pricey. Unless you have other projects in mind, you might end up spending as muc...

I had some custom paper micarta made for a couple of knives that I plan on changing the scales. One is a RR carbon toothpick that will be rescaled using the micarta made to resemble the candy stripe scales on old Hammer and other brands. Well, you don’t have to worry about getting one with a “banana” or “boomerang” blade, it’s designed that way!

Oh yeah, definitely Asian. I’ve never seen a curved blade/handle with stiletto-style bolsters.
