I was in Tijuana around 1992. I bought a few Italian made 13" bolster release switches with horn grips there. They looked exactly like knives I got from SKM later but were marked a little differently. "J" on one side and "INOX" on the other if I remember correctly.

An interesting story. Renfro was in a few good movies, a shame he died so young. "Sleepers" was pretty intense. I don't care for the embellishment on the knives, personally. Walt's Latamas are very nice knives though. I hope someone makes a high end commemorative switchblade when I kick off though! :D

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll post a pic of mine if I get a chance. I've had it since I was 15,some 30 years ago, and it looked somewhat old then.

Wow, this is an old post. I have a similar knife, a 13" switchblade marked Wandy. Mine has buffalo horn grips and a thick backspring and blade, nickel bolsters. I would take it over many other vintage switches I have seen, and the recent SKM/Beltrame stuff does not even come close to comparing to my...
