Re: Samurai sword / 19th century handle

Never seen a hilt like that. Looks to be designed to be two handed like a traditional katana. If you drift out the dowel on the lower part of the handle, you can then remove the blade. On the tang will be lots of info, the maker, the date or period, etc. Of course it will all be in Japanese, but tak...

Re: Imitation Horn

Natch - Thanks for the welcome back... So where do you live? I want to know so that I can give you a bad time about it. Grandpa Greyblade We currently live in California, however, it has become more and more difficult to justify staying here. Crime, especially gangs looting stores, engaging in hot ...

Re: Imitation Horn

Greetings Mr. Greyblade! Glad to see you return.

Your retirement plans, going from the Sun Belt to the Rust Belt, somehow seem contrary to what many others are doing. Being a contrarian is not a negative here, however. Welcome back!!

That problem can be solved by a PC photo editor that has a re-size function. I imagine most do at this point.

The following applies to an Android device but may also be applicable to the iPhone. You should be able to use a USB cable, one end with standard male plug and the other with mini male plug. These are very common cables often used to charge the phone. The mini plugs into the phone, the standard plug...

Re: What else do you collect?

Old, classic cars. My first was a 1941 Packard, model 110 4 door touring sedan that I got from my grandmother in high school. I still have it. Most dependable car I ever owned. Never failed to start and GO. 115-1517_IMG.JPG Then for college I bought a 1956 Packard 400, a hard top with power everythi...

Imperial Butterfly

You go to the Halloween party dressed as a Roman Emperor. In your hand you hold this interesting 17" baton. The eagle with outstretched wings is a symbol of your high status. 20210630_175003.jpg Someone makes fun of your toga, you then open the baton to reveal this monster bali! 20210630_175127.jpg...

Re: Roofing Tales Of Madness...

Wally, you are definitely a mentor and esteemed educator in the arcane roofing arts. That so many of your disciples (including perhaps the "goofball that allowed mine kettle to flash out and self immolate in front of the SF icon, the I-Beam") continued on in pursuit of roofing mastery is a living te...

Re: Roofing Tales Of Madness...

Another great story with interesting side notes. Half of those houses, which were built in the 1890's in the Victorian Stick style, had art glass bands on the top of the front bay windows, both floors. Yes the windows were hand made, but the attribution to having been saved from just before WWII is ...
