Spyderco Sharpmaker Need Diamond Rods and Thoughts?

I've very recetly got a sharpmaker and if I'm honest my 1st impressions aren't great ... or a couple of the knives I've got are rubbish. One of my bigger kitchen knives I tried using the Sharpmaker and wasn't overly impressed so used my Lansky Turn Box after and was able to get a much better edge wi...

Re: What's This For ... Came With Whetstone

That's a nagura stone, which is mainly used for cleaning/removing embedded metal swarf from the surface of your whetstone. I suppose it could also be used for a bit of flattening as well, but a coarse diamond plate works a lot better and faster for that. Aplogies with Xmas I forgot to check back in...

What's This For ... Came With Whetstone

I bought a 1/2 decent whetstone not that long ago and it came with a "small stone" shown in the attached pics ... being fairly new to whetstones didn't know what it was for ... if I was to take a guess I'd say either cleaning or flattening but if anyone can help would be much appreciated.

Re: AKC Mini - Mine's Sticking - What's Your Experience With Them

Have done it and it's eased up again be interesting to see how long it lasts :-) Does anyone use Dry PTFE lube .... again I found a video suggesting it and the fact they don't attract so much muck / dust the logic seems to make sense, interested to see if others use it and if it's any good or best s...

Re: AKC Mini - Mine's Sticking - What's Your Experience With Them

Lever locks prefer grease. Remove as much oil as you can. Put a dab of lithium automotive grease on the blade tang-where it contacts the backspring. Then, look at the spring. Most springs rub one side of the liners. Put a tiny drop of oil on the side that rubs. No worries I'll give this a try ... w...

Re: AKC Mini - Mine's Sticking - What's Your Experience With Them

I'll have a look at the pivot pin although I just checked and there is a small amount of play in the blade already which does that suggest it may not be the issue?? It's already not opening again so my couple of days was a bit optimistic ... I have learnt to give them a solid push to open .... in fa...

AKC Mini - Mine's Sticking - What's Your Experience With Them

Bought one of the AKC Mini lever locks quite a while back and it's always suffered form not opening fully and can't be "relied on". Have other people experienced this and have you found a cure, I've just tried blowing it all out with compressed air and using a different oil (3 in 1) and it's helped ...

Re: Addiction - - - How Many In Your Collection :-)

I'd be afraid to give a number. My wife might see it. This is so true with every hobby I think !!!!!! I've even started threads saying do you conceal what you buy from the Mrs and if so how do you do it. With the RC Planes one guy posted he always buys the same colour planes as she'd notice a diffe...

Addiction - - - How Many In Your Collection :-)

As a couple of people have pointed out collecting knives is addictive which I can totally relate to, be interested to know how many have you got in your collection and what I've potentially let myself in for ??? I'd also love to know what other addictions people have as well or if it's just knives, ...
