Re: CORICAMA Transitionals/Swivel Bolsers / South America?

Very cool set! I've always thought the coricama's from the 60's were very interesting knives, think it's the first time i've seen a set of them in one place.

There are a few 12cms out there, finding the 18cm is always a tough one.

Re: Intro from new fan of TalkBlade

Thanks for sharing the story and the photo, the photo is a classic! Your Dad had very good taste in knives. Even without knowing the stamps I can see plenty of rare variations and some amazing horn. Glad you took the time to post all this stuff here.

Re: "Maltese Mangle", Or Build?

Jules...Jerry Skelton was one of the best. True southern gentlemen that loved high end knives. Spending time with him at the shows was always a highlight for me.

Re: "Maltese Mangle", Or Build?

The spring looks like it's dovetailed. That could be an original handle that's been taken apart and then a replacement blade put on the knife. I know I've discussed this knife with someone before, probably Charley.

Re: "Maltese Mangle", Or Build?

It's a nice knife. I swear I have seen it before. Is it an early Tony Sandoval? Back when he was a custom maker and mangler, before he became a faker? This one could have been in Jerry Skelton's collection.

Beautiful old knife Frenchi!

The stamp is not very well struck so I'm not sure how much info you will find on it. The date from the Maniago Museum is correct. The checkered handles, blunt tip, unique locktab, square safety, and of course the rare maltese bolsters make this a real gem. Congrats!!

Re: Monkey image

Beautiful knife!! The stamp is very rare. I've seen it on a couple other fishtail picklocks, maybe a stiletto. It was made in the 1950's in Maniago Italy. Maniago used a cottage system to build their knives and I'm not sure if this stamp was ever traced back to a specific maker or shop.Very nice fin...

Re: J and Jaguar

Both those knives are 100% Italian. Looking at the work I would think it could be argued the J and Jaguar are the same company. The era these were made was probably the low point for quality out of Italy over the past 130 years. Still cool knives and I like keeping some of these around just to show ...

Re: mini Italians

So yes the 50's daggers are nickel silver, D stamped, slip in spring. Even some of the early swedge blade minis are. So just for conversation purposes I would guess they switched post 58 but that is literally just a guess. That knife on the newsletter is an unstamped stag dagger. Was in Jerry Skelto...
