Re: I find a nice looking knife...

This thread got me thinking. I use a Lansky system to sharpen my knives, and maybe round sharpening stones would work. You'd need to find a supplier (McMaster has already been mentioned), and come up with a way to find the right sizes and manage to attach the guide rods with some precision. The Lans...

Thanks Terry. Good to hear someone else knows about this arcane art.

Re: How many times a week you give your collection a look?

Here's one Twobit. During my late teens and early machinist career I would talk about knives with older guys, and one thing I heard from time to time was that "the best knife I ever had" was made from a metal working file, preferably a Nicholson. So, this one is the first knife I ever made, and I ma...

Re: due buoi

I'm curious to know what price range these knives are in. An internet search has been frustrating, to put it mildly. What sales I could find were not recent, and sparse. The asking price was generally around $500.00, but that tells little about the current value, or even what the street value was ba...

Re: due buoi

Tom - I can explain both. The Godfather is the "Godfather for stiletto collectors". It was sort of a forum knife, like the Due Buoi. We did it in the 2007 - 8 timeframe. Take a look at my comment in the Brazilian horn thread from a couple of days ago. Likewise with the Mikov, sort of a forum knife ...

Re: due buoi

Thanks Jim. I have a couple others which I can't remember; a Godfather with dark horn scales, polished blade, etched "Classic Godfather #03 of 10" on the frame back side. Also there's a Mikov in the collection I don't remember even buying. It has dark horn scales, filework, and the blade is etched "...

Re: due buoi

Hi Porkchop. I have one of the Italian pattern switches. It has dark horn scales. The blade is etched Due Buoi Italy 2 of 15 2006 . I think it was a forum knife. It's a good quality knife but I never liked it because the button is difficult to push and the safety is stiff too. Cooincidentally, I've ...

Re: How many times a week you give your collection a look?

Those are coming up Terry, I just put up a shot of some forum knives. Two more bunches remain; Good knives I'm uncertain about; a couple of Protechs, a few Leverlettos, etc. And, Knives by the Pound.

Re: How many times a week you give your collection a look?

ST2-2-1.jpg ST3-1-1-1.jpg I haven't photographed knives in years and it shows, unfortunately. Anyway, here they are, warts and all. I was tempted to clean them up, but in the end I just didn't have the time. 1st photo is of some bolster release types and picklocks. The clunky looking one on top is ...

Hi Terry. Sure, I could do a photo or 2. It'll take me a while to get it together.

Re: How many times a week you give your collection a look?

Actually most of my knives are packed away. I went through a period when collecting was new to me, and I bought a lot of knives. I have a couple of Godfathers and a Godson, a bunch of Leverlettos, commemorative Talkblade knives (Teddy/Pushbutton, Tiny, etc.), and about a dozen of the custom knives I...
