Re: AGA N/S tarnish

Hi Eveeyone,
I googled NS. The article listed the metals used in NS: nickel 18%, copper 60% and zinc 22%.
What causes the tarnish?...copper?

Re: AGA N/S tarnish

I recall reading some about 18% silver, a lot of copper and nickel. I’m glad there was no test obviously I would have failed.

Re: AGA N/S tarnish

AGA use nickel silver on many of their knives. It’s the silver part that tarnishes. Stainless steel bolsters do not tarnish as nickel silver does, but nickel silver in my opinion is so much more attractive.

Re: Asian switchblade

Those Asian knock offs are great for click therapy. They are somewhat rough around the edges. They don’t have those really nice lines like an Italian stiletto. However, you can’t go wrong for the money and if it should breakdown you have a safety and a button assembly for future use.

Hi James, Bill is definitely ONE of the best! Bill’s Done work for me and his work never disappoints me. However, if Bill is too busy and he can’t fit your knife into his schedule for a few weeks you can always see if any of the other skilled members can take on your project. If you’re not in a hurr...

Hi Ian, I’ve never seen a white one. If the scales were ever colored there would have to be traces in those groves. I don’t know if I would paint it. If you do, use a high quality model car paint or something similar. By the way fabulous find. John PS now that you have a set of guards to copy get yo...
