Re: Rizzuto bidding frenzy

I'm more surprised at the price versus the POS below grade condition of this Rizzy.
And it was represented as being almost perfect. Reminds me of Proverbs 20;14

Re: Latima, a new dawn of quality?

Thanks guys, my reason for posting was really partly in hopes that in the future these fine knives would be offered with optional sharp edges, had I known beforehand that they were so dull I probably wouldn't have bought it, and would have missed the otherwise superb quality knife.

Re: Latima, a new dawn of quality?

Per another thread here the blade is indeed very dull. I've been looking at it from the standpoint of sharpening but my one complaint, if I were to make one, would be that there is no downside to having a sharp blade. The thickness of the blade really (It seems to me) means that one would have to ca...

Latima, a new dawn of quality?

At the risk of sounding like a company shill I want to heap praise on my latest purchase. I bought one of Walt's flatguard automatics for $195 and got it today. At the time I bought it I thought, "Oh, it's probably like all the others but with their cat brand stamped on it", but it's much better! Th...

Re: Storing blade open...

Interesting about hardened steel. It does droop when cantilevered (Unsupported) horizontally, but only while in that position. Hardened inspection mandrels for inspecting lathe alignment are made with a Morse taper to fit the spindle, then they extend approximately (Depending on the size of the lath...

Re: Keychain Stiletto?

I bought one to keep the coffee table, to do a thousand things I use a small knife for in the house. I sharpened it razor sharp, the only switchblade I've ever sharpened. I carried it for a while but it did in fact open in my pocket several times. Worse, anything even close to serious load will caus...

Re: Im very sorry to all members.

Well, I didn't see any animosity, but I can relate. I have to apologize often. Friends, family, God, in reverse order of importance. So I appreciate those who apologize. Best to you Leighdog. You must be a good guy.

Re: Rust problems

Renaissance wax is supposed to be superior for preventing corrosion. I read that it shouldn't be used on a blued gun. It's expensive.

Re: off center blades

I'd speculate that the blade has built in stresses that "unwind" with time. Certain steels are known for their stability in heat treating, I know about dies in that respect but not knife blades. It would seem that one could straighten them carefully, to just past straight the other way, I'd sure lik...

Re: Thanks,great place. pictures added!

That "Blade peek" on your swing guard, can one peen the stop on the tang to reduce that? What is the proper repair for that? A tig welder could build up a tad on the end of the spring if one got the knife apart, and if it was clamped between two slabs of aluminum I do not think it would effect the s...

I've often thought the same thing, it's been said that ten thousand laws are passed every DAY in America! I would vote for someone who promised to reduce law counts. (deregulation, what a beautiful word!)

"Huh?" I assume that was directed at my tirade against lawmakers. If you read the photo notes you may have been struck by the fact that though the people of Maniago make knives they are not allowed to carry them or even have them in their homes, that's the most significant part of the original post ...

Re: This is outstanding

I'm curious how people get permission to own switchblades, since one note said they had roving bands of police who searched homes for knives. We need to remember this every time we vote, to make sure we never vote for anyone who would deprive us of our God given rights. The process is slow, a little...

Re: pin head spinner

This says more about my personality than about need. Anyone who knows me thinks I'm a tool collector. :) I know that people vary in their abilities, some folks have trouble doing a good looking job with tools, while others can't do nice work without them, I'm in the latter category. If I wanted to s...

Re: pin head spinner

For me well finished "Machine made" processes are not detrimental to quality, in fact just the opposite. None of my switchblades are high value collector pieces so it's not like I'm "destroying" a Latima. The switchblades made by Mikov have more modern processes in their rivetting, I like that, it s...
