Re: 60s humpback stilettos

They also all seem to have stainless steel bottom bolsters and nickel silver top bolsters.] Amateur question here but is this because the brass liners can be soldered to the nickel? Beautiful knives by the way. Interesting how the pins are aligned, that must be a better location for the lock to oper...

Ringpull Hunter with shellpullers JAGUAR

Here's a different one... it's a "hunter" or "camper" pattern with ringpull release, shellpullers and a bail.. its a nicely built knife, tight with a hard kicking 2 piece spring. Stamped JAGUAR rostfrei. It's not D stamped, I have been told it is a 60s-70s piece. http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Very early 13" transitional.. unmolested.

New knives just don't have scales as nice as the old ones... horn or stag.. but as far as the yellow, I believe it was originally more of a cream color almost white and it yellowed like that with age.

Re: Another 33cm (13") M. ITALY INOX picklock

The seller's logic was that someone more recently rescaled it and I suppose he assumed they used the Buffalo horn because it is easier to get than green cow horn. I didn't think it was a rescale because it has some old bug bitten areas on that front scale.. it would had to have been done quite some ...

Re: Another 33cm (13") M. ITALY INOX picklock

Great knife, but the front scale is cow horn. Thanks. Yeah, you mentioned that when I posted it on SD and I am actually relieved because I thought it might have been a rescale if it was buffalo. The seller I got it from was convinced it was buffalo horn.. the rear is obviously cow. How can you tell...

Another 33cm (13") M. ITALY INOX picklock

This is a very nice 33cm picklock..M. Italy INOX in an oval.. typical run of the mill 50s picklock.. It has some really excellent green horn for the rear scale. Kind of interesting in that it has a buffalo horn front scale and a cow horn rear scale.. though they look to be original to the knife, the...

Vintage 60s "topless derby bolster" stiletto

I have heard these referred to as the "derby" bolster variety.. I personally like to call them the "topless" bolsters.. when I hear derby bolster I think of the knives with both ears facing downwards looking like a derby hat.. anyway, here is a vintage 1960s BOBC "topless derby bolster" stiletto wit...

Vintage 20cm (8") odd stamp ENEE INOX stag stiletto

Never seen this stamp before, "ENEE INOX" in a football. This knife has the smallest button I've seen on a handle this size. Looks like it came off a mini 12cm. The bottom bolsters are super thick too.. this one has some unusual features. http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa360/rm71860/20150903_17...

33cm (13") M. ITALY picklock

This one has seen better days but has been very nicely brought back to life. I noticed the 3 small dots in the blade well and suspected that Bill D. had worked on this one at some point, this was confirmed by its original owner when I posted it on another forum. The blade has been reground and resto...

Another addition to the "fantastic four".. beautiful old stag

I suppose it is now the "fantastic five".. I have been putting together a set of these seemingly later transitional stilettos, I just scored this beautiful stag.. stamped "rostfrei 7".. the stamps on these are all different variations of "rostfrei", the other stag one is also stamped with "rostfrei ...

60s humpback stilettos

Just scored these two humpback stilettos, I threw the earless in the pic to compliment the pair.. they go together nicely. I've always noticed that the humpback stilettos have much rounder ears than the typical stiletto bolsters of the period. They also all seem to have stainless steel bottom bolste...

Very early 13" transitional.. unmolested.

This is without a doubt the center piece of my 13" transitionals.. it's the only one out of a dozen that has a slip in spring, it seems that 2 piece springs are much less common on the 13" trannies.. love the patina and the horn on this one, the bolsters have that nice gray oxidized appearance. This...
