Re: Boker improved cutlery

It's possible that Boker contracted the knife-possibly after they discontinued the 712/713 series.
It's the first one I have seen.

Re: Boker improved cutlery

I don't care what markings it has, it's a fairly modern Massaro made leverlock from Italy.

Re: Shellpuller

Made in Maniago by Massaro.
If the knife springs open correctly (automatically,) it has been repaired. The grinding on the blade indicates that the spring was, or is, broken.

Re: 13" Latama

I'm the guy that does it. It's done by hand-IF there is enough blade left for it to be done. It's expensive, and I'm not doing it right now. Replacing vintage blades is not an option.
There may be others that can do it, but none that I can recommend, as I have not seen their work.

Re: Info for this 13" sweevel bolster

It's a modern 13. There is no nickel silver on it. The liners are brass and the bolsters are steel.

Re: Looking for information on this gravity knife

Nor have I ever seen a Gebruder of this type.
If you want to remove the button spring, you have to remove the button by driving out the button pin. Trying to do so otherwise will ruin the spring, and you can't get a new spring in unless the button is removed.

Re: MOP

I think it will make the pearl oily, but do nothing else.
Wax might help, as might Simichrome.
It all depends on the surface texture of the pearl. Ideally, it should be glass smooth.

Only once have I seen a live larva in a handle.
I have seen many shed casings left in handles, though.

Sand to 600+ grit and buff with green or white rouge. Don't get it too hot.

Speaking of bowies-

I have wanted one of these since I was 16 years old. I started looking on Ebay and immediately found a nice one. Bid pretty high on it, but lost it. I had seen another Anton Wingen bowie there that looked strange. Upon closer inspection, it was the same style knife- but the guard was missing! So, I ...
