The knife Knifeshop is selling is actually a "Cartailler" brand, but it is probably sold by Bargeon/G.David.

No offense meant to anyone here. I was more worried that David would not take the thread seriously. Old Bill gets pretty grumpy at times, but certainly doesn't think of himself as "elitist". There were many good suggestions here, and I applaud them. Mr. Edge is right- collecting should be fun. Even ...

If the "8" is centered on the tang, it is a factory marking, denoting something other than an assembly number. Many of the older knives were made in batches, and the numbers were stamped on them so that parts would not be mixed up during assembly. If the "8" looks like it was crudely stamped (and us...

Grumpy old Bill here- Though I have no suggestions off the top of my head, you guys need to understand that David is looking for suggestions on a real knife. It's no wonder this forum is not taken seriously. You really should be honored that he would ask you, and at least have enough respect to not ...

Arthas We will be at P.F. this year. So will your friend Angelo. How will he get to his room without you to give him a ride? While we would love to see you there, I don't think it would be a good business move. This is mostly a Case-type vintage knife show. Besides, they are not legal in Tenn. Bill ...

420 is the standard in the industry, and has been used for years. Cryogenic (sub-zero) treating may improve it dramatically. The others are better steels. If you get a bayonet style blade, your choice of steel will not matter, as the dege is ground too thick to take a fine edge, no matter what the m...

Unfortunately, the Schrade pattern autos would be almost impossible to reproduce, even though some of the original tooling still exists. I would love to see new issues of these knives, but it won't happen. The tooling would be very expensive. Unless you could sell hundreds of thousands of them it wo...
