Re: trapdoor from years past

I bought four switchblades, all different. I still have three of them. someone stole a 13 inch stag horn from me in college. The others are a stag 9 inch, an 11 inch BO/BC.
How I got them back home is a whole other story for another time.

My bucket list includes a trip to Maniago. At some point I need to know where to go there and what can be seen/experienced.

Re: trapdoor from years past

As I understand it, switchblades are now illegal in Italy, with some exceptions. what a shame!

trapdoor from years past

In 1968 I backpacked across Europe and in Rome I discovered switchblades. When I asked where to buy them I was told to go to the parfumerie. I did and bought this trapdoor for about $7. I then went to a hardware store and bought a bunch more. What a time! I brought them back and still have them. wis...

Re: German gravity knife

Thanks for that info which clarifies a lot. From what you said, mine looks to be a MC-1. Tang stamp is Schrade Walden, NY USA, stainless.

Re: German gravity knife

gravknife, great info! On closer look the bird stamp has a "5". There is a "3" stamped on the latch.

Re: German gravity knife

gravknife, I had not even noticed the bird on the marlin spike! Thanks for pointing that out. I does seem to have a number in it but I can't make it out. What is the significance of the number?
Do you have one of these knives?

Re: German gravity knife

Dave, thanks for the clarification on the orange scaled knives. Was there a paratrooper knife issued in WWII?

German gravity knife

I know this is not a switchblade as such, but I did not know where else to post this. My father-in-law brought this back from WWII (along with a bunch of other war trophies). It was not functional when I got it so I sent it to Bill Deshivs who did a masterful job of restoring it. These were issued ...

Campolin prototipo

I bought this directly from mr. Campolin (Jr) some years ago at the Atlanta blade show. Front tang stamp says: A.G.A CAMPOLIN, MANIAGO ITALY 2011. Back tang stamp is: PROTOTIPO. It's quite a piece and opens like a thunderbolt! Any body ever seen one like it or know anything about it?
