Re: 1940s vintage flatguard

There's probably a guy or two on here that would be willing to take it off your hands.

Re: Worlds crappiest switchblade thread.

I'm not planning on quitting, Terry. I need to find an assortment of brass pins. The stainless ones I have available at work are too hard to peen without cracking my scales. I do need to get off my arse and get going on it while I have the space to do it at work. And while I'm not expecting anything...

It does look like a Cupid clone side opener. But, I should have added something to judge the size. I think it's about 3" OAL
Well, it's to scale, pretty well anyway.

Re: Worlds crappiest switchblade thread.

There's another Cupid clone, though it looks to be maybe a side folder? Ian I rather like the one with the image of the pistol on the handle. I can't judge the quality without handling it in person, but it has the appearance of practicality. There's really nothing horribly crappy about my Super Knif...

Re: Worlds crappiest switchblade thread.

Mike, I had one of those once in my late teens. I took it apart in the interest of trying to see if I could convert it to a legit OTF. Saw there was absolutely no chance and pitched the whole works in the trash. Are those combs with back locks and wood scales?

Re: Boker Kalashnikov

Update: the factory edge is passably sharp. Until this morning I had only tested it with my thumb. I tried it on copy paper a few minutes ago and it cut, but also tore a bit. I'll be giving it a little love on my stone here very shortly.

Re: Worlds crappiest switchblade thread.

8) Not the best knives for sure but some guys collect them. My first otf knife was the NATO version from the EDGECO catalog in the late 70's/Early eighties. Mine too, exactly that one! My dad ordered it for me and my high school principal confiscated it. It was much more robust than this one, though...

Re: Worlds crappiest switchblade thread.

I'm fairly certain this one is my crappiest. Super thin blade, only bevelled on one side of the cutting edge. Very fragile mechanics. Sorry for the crappy photo.

Re: Worlds crappiest switchblade thread.

Terry, I don't think you're missing much. I much prefer the look of the Paragon. It's so much more sleek, not clunky like this one

Re: Boker Kalashnikov

Aaand here it is. Very happy with it. Just as I had hoped. All business and practical. Not as much fun as a swing guard, but that's not what I bought it for. Very similar to my Tenet. Do the non-auto versions have a flipper, or a thumb stud?

Re: Boker Kalashnikov

John, this one was not much more than yours was. It cost $44. That was the website price and I found a coupon code that got me free priority shipping and they didn't charge sales tax so that was my total cost. It did come in a box shaped like an AK mag just like in Terry's pic.
