They are similar steels, but you will end up paying a bit more for ats-34 because of the fact that not many companies or knife makers use that steel now. but if you can somehow pick up a ats-34 steel, i recommend it

Held up well, but today the scale cracked a little near the lever. Was able to sand it down

if you want to save a few bucks and get the 154cm that wouldn't be a bad idea, Honestly i wouldn't be able to tell much difference minus sharpening them

S30V is a bit of a funny steel. If heat treated well and sharpened properly it can hold a edge very well that can easily surpass 154cpm, But a lot of OEM makers ht s30v a bit different so your mileage may vary. I've seen these knives around etsy and ebay a lot. I heard that they are good for the money. I don't think these do hold a edge very well, but at least they are soft steel so its easy to sharpen up
