Re: Rizzuto estileto milano knife
A few different colors. Looks like there was more than one type of red (one looks solid, the other looks marbled/darker). I've never seen a green one. Pic posted by member Jules Vane https://i.imgur.com/pC5oe3s.jpg And this rare one. Not only multicolored handles (Italian-themed) but also fixed-guar...

Re: Dick Van Dyke Show Trick Knife
Not what you described, but a different episode with a trick knife (retracting blade)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRaF4gk1yhY Also, I don't know if you know, but you can watch just about anything for free on the internet, movies and tv shows. I just found out a few years ago and it changed my l...

Re: Lebanon? Dagger....is it valuable?
That is a dagger made by S & A Haddad in Jezzine, Lebanon, before the Haddad family started marking their blades with a tree logo and family name. If you do a Google search for "Haddad Jezzine cutlery" you'll see several examples of their work, mostly eating utensils. They specialize in tourist kniv...

Your welcome ColdEthyl.
They are also referred to as M17.
It was not uncommon for military knives to be made by multiple factories during war time.

Re: Elusive trench dagger stamped "R" only?
That is a WW1 M1917 Austro-Hungarian Sturmmesser fighting knife. And from my research the "R" stands for the factory in Resicka where it was made. Being Austro-Hungarian, there should be a small eagle proof mark stamped into the underside of one side of the guard (example below). But it's easy to mi...

From what I read, the chocolate-covered, Black Cow on a stick was discontinued about 30 years ago.

Thanks for the infoBill DeShivs wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 11:08 pm I don't think Coricama had members per-se.
While Coricama did manufacture cutlery, they also brokered for many makers in Maniago. I do kniow of one big display stiletto marked "Coricama" that was made by Lepre.

Re: Folding Latama with sheath?
Lepre was the outfit that made many of the Italian folding bowies. I suspect they made yours, too. Was Lepre a member of CORICAMA? My understanding is that CORICAMA (Coltellerie Riunite Caslino Maniago) was a cooperative of knife and tool makers in Maniago and Caslino. I see that Lepre is still loc...

Re: Folding Latama with sheath?
That type of knife is known by a few names-
Pig Sticker (as Highspeed mentioned)
Boar Hunting Knife
Saufaenger
I don't see any reference online to a Latama version.

Re: This OJD or DJD INOX tang stamp is proving elusive...
I found one (O.J.D stamp), don't know how I missed it. Here's a link- https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/catalog/71015-antique-60s-era-15-transitional-stiletto-genuine-brazilian-horn-nbsp- I don't know what length yours is (that one is 15"), and condition will affect value, but that one sold for $...

Re: Intro from new fan of TalkBlade
Great story, and great photo. My fascination with switchblades began as a child as well. One of my uncles on my fathers side was an outlaw biker, and during the short time that I knew him he carried one of two 11" Italian pick lock stiletto switchblades. I looked forward to his visits like Christmas...

Re: This OJD or DJD INOX tang stamp is proving elusive...
You may have already discovered this in your research, but "Inox" is short for inoxidable, which is just another word for stainless steel which was commonly used on Italian switchblades. So you will find plenty of references for that word. I did a hard search online for any knife with "D.J.D" or "O....

Re: Preliminary photos of Dad's collection
Sorry about your dad. That’s quite the collection he had. A few of those knives are quite rare and valuable, namely that German Bonsa trapdoor OTF. If you have any questions, there are plenty of folks here who will be happy to help. Thank you, Mario. Is this the one you are referring to? It's one o...

Re: How To Post Pictures Using Imgur
Thank you, killgar! So helpful. Is this the preferred method for posting photos on TB? I was able to shrink my photos on my computer and have them show up as photos rather than links, but I lost a lot of resolution in doing so. I am new and trying to follow protocol, so if links are preferred I wil...
