The Dung Restriction

. Is anyone familiar with The Dung Restriction? Under Federal law -- and I believe this is still on the books -- any significant repository of animal dung (usually a cave or island with massive deposits of bat guano or bird droppings) is off-limits for switchblades, SPECIFICALLY because of the dung....

Re: CHRONOLOGICAL LIST of switchblades in movies

.

I regret that health issues and computer problems have prevented me from maintaining the List with updates.

Not sure if / when conditions will change..... hopefully sometime in 2024..... time will tell....

Re: Just from the knife show - Gebo/Makinox/Rizzy

. On one episode of 'Pawn Stars' they showed a real quick glimpse of the top shelf in a showcase, and I swear there was an Italian-style switchblade there! Has anyone else seen any auto knives on this show? Frankly, I'm surprised they are legal in "Lost Wages" what with all of the drugs, thieves, de...

Re: vintage mini butterfly knife

. Thanks guys..... it was only five bucks so of course I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. I don't recall ever seeing one with the "front bolster" terminals having sharp angles instead of being rounded. Combined with the bronze (I think) metal, the Bowie blade, and the bone scales, it has enough unusu...

vintage mini butterfly knife

. Picked up this mini last September at the flea. The handles look more like bronze than brass, at least to me. The scales appear to be bone. The blade is carbon steel, with a distinctive Bowie shape. I haven't seen very many miniature butterfly knives, let alone any that appear to have considerable...

I put some 3-in-1 oil into the hinge, which has helped a lot. Thanks for all the advice!

Re: The first trickle from the hoard !!

. A few weeks ago, I was astonished to encounter a guy who not only paid me $20 each for the worthless junkers, but later told me that he sold them all very quickly and would be interested in getting more! Honestly, I thought that I would probably just end up tossing them all. You just never know wh...

Re: R. J. Richter leverlock

. Thanks for all the comments..... was Richter only in business after WWII....? Just wondering whether there's any chance that this could be pre-war. Other than ricasso stamps, how could you tell? The leverlocks don't have as many changes as the stiletto-style knives, what with the change from pickl...

Re: 1940s (?) 'Sheffield' lever "shellpuller"

. Thanks Bill ! Since you have found these to be more common than I thought, do you think they were imported commercially during the late 40s and the 1950s? Also, any info on the specific episode of 'Three Stooges' that shows this knife? Lastly, do you think they were, in fact, made in India? Thanks...

1940s (?) 'Sheffield' lever "shellpuller"

. I got this at the flea three weeks ago..... the ricasso stamp reads "No. 6 Sheffield steel" and the blade is stamped "best steel". An acquaintance did an image search and came up with several identical knives, with the most probable origin being India or Pakistan, dating approximately from 1947 to...

fastr ~ That's what I was afraid of.... I am now attempting to contact the folks at Microtech to see if there are any differences
between the real article and the fakes that will allow me to determine with certainty which I have. Stay tuned.....

Re: Marfione at the flea !!

. Well, SOMEBODY is buying Marfione Custom knives, because everything that I've seen online is sold out. Regardless of how well it's made, I can't get too excited over this piece simply because it's so small. The double-edge dagger blade is clearly a weapon design; but how effective is a three-inch ...
