Re: Optimizing 3 Cold Steel Kukri Machetes

Another bit of info i learned only yesterday: these machetes are made by Lasher Tools, a South African company.

Re: Optimizing 3 Cold Steel Kukri Machetes

About twice a week we like to take a hike in the forests surrounding our home town, and each time we walk between 7 and 10 kilometers. (about 4 to 6 miles) During that time i use any of my choppers to keep the walking trails clear from overgrowth, ranging from small green branches up to small trees,...

Modding a CS Heavy Duty Machete

Recently i bought these 2 Cold Steel Heavy Duty machetes as modding projects. One of them now looks a bit like a slender barong with a swedge (maybe this will be sharpened later on, don't know yet) The contoured & resurfaced polypropylene handle has a bit of a negative angle to the blade which s...

Re: Show your Paper Wheel edges

Good to read about your positive experiences thus far, and do post some pictures of your edges.
I'm sure others would like to see them just as much as i do.

Re: Optimizing 3 Cold Steel Kukri Machetes

We had something of a storm a few weeks ago, and many forest trails are still littered with broken branches and/or blocked by fallen over small trees like these 3 birches. The modified Kukri Machete dealt fast & easy with both the de-limbing as well as chopping up the main trunks into moveable s...

Re: Optimizing 3 Cold Steel Kukri Machetes

Hi gravknife, It's not so much the chances of slipping why i resurfaced the kukri machete handles but because of the real possibility of skin damage and/or blisters due to the chequering which does not belong on the handle of a large blade like this imo, which shifts around in your hand quite a bit ...

Re: Optimizing 3 Cold Steel Kukri Machetes

This is Kukri Machete nr 2 with it's new convex edge (apex at +/- 30 degrees inclusive) and resurfaced PVC handle, currently weighing 504 grams. Nr. 3 looks the same but it already went to a friend of mine. https://s18.postimg.org/h5rioj8ud/GEDC1820.jpg Kukri nr 1 with it's new convex edge (apex als...

Optimizing 3 Cold Steel Kukri Machetes

Recently i bought several Cold Steel Kukri Machetes. I had read quite a bit about this specific model, and when i could get a very good deal i grabbed them. For me these Kukri Machetes have a useful size (they fit inside my daypack), with around 2.8 mm blade thickness they are quite rigid for a mach...

Re: Cold Steel Bowie Machete mod

This is how the second Bowie Machete looks at the moment, with the fuzzy finish coming out a bit more even compared to the first one. Obviously the edges still need to be reprofiled & sharpened. https://s18.postimg.org/avf7gusf9/GEDC1807.jpg https://s18.postimg.org/4uhijsl8l/GEDC1808.jpg https:/...

Re: Show your Paper Wheel edges

The owner of this Maxamet PM2 had given his knife a forced patina treatment, and besides coming out a bit uneven the acid had also completely eaten away the factory apex as well as the very tip of the blade. To say that the knife was completely blunt would have been an understatement. The request wa...

Cold Steel Bowie Machete mod

A few days ago i bought a few Cold Steel Bowie Machetes from a Dutch forum member, and today i changed the plastic grip of one of them a bit more to my liking with the use of a coarse wood rasp. The contouring makes for a much more comfortable grip when compared to the original handle shape, and sna...

Re: Vintage P.Holmberg Eskilstuna hunting knife

Thanks for the nice words guys :-) As the original edge of the knife was rather blunt i gave it a new one, after grinding the old apex flat on the Tormek by using a combination of Rubber Wheels coated with diamond grit to create the new bevels & various Paper Wheels with fine diamond compounds f...
